Job Title: Customer Service Specialist

Department: Laboratory

Reports To: Outreach Supervisor

Job Summary: Responsible for high quality service for all phone inquiries to the lab

Job Responsibilities include:

  1. Communicate verbally and through written correspondence accurate medical/test information by ownership of solving customer issues*
  2. Maintain customer focus in stressful situations, communicating in a professional manner with credibility and rapport*
  3. Consistently uses a systematic approach in solving all problems*
  4. Direct information to various departments of the laboratory for follow-up on phone inquiries*
  5. Able to clearly and factually summarize conversations understanding issues to prompt resolution of issues*
  6. Provide and collect data for process control and quality indicators when needed*
  7. Utilizes the appropriate computer systems to solve the request*
  8. Ability to screen calls to assure appropriate facility or individual is getting confidential test results*
  9. Maintain knowledge of hundreds of tests, specimen types , and collection tubes*
  10. Is flexible and willing to make changes for the benefit of the team

*Essential

Physical Demands: Repetitive use of hands (e.g. computer keyboard usage), sitting for long periods of time up to 6 hours per day.

Education: High school diploma or equivalent

Experience: 2 years customer service and knowledge of medical terminology, lab experience preferred

Additional Qualifications: Good written and oral communication skills preferred also good problem solving skills
