Job Description
We are a Main Line concierge primary care office, seeking an experienced full-time Certified Medical Assistant to join our growing practice. The successful candidate will share cross-functional responsibilities with the other Medical Assistants of the practice, performing both clinical and front-office support.
Together, the Medical Assistant team have primary responsibility for performing in-office testing, and pre-exam preparation. In addition to these clinical responsibilities, the successful candidate will also be cross-trained to support non-clinical patient management functions of the Practice.
Key clinical aspects of the job include the following:
- Assists in examination and treatment of patients under the direction of a physician.
- Interviews patients, measures vital signs (i.e., pulse rate, temperature, blood pressure, weight, and height), and records or inputs information to patients' medical record software (EHR).
- Prepares treatment rooms for examination of patients. Will be required to draw and collect blood samples from patients and prepare specimens for laboratory analysis.
- Labels, records, and stores blood containers for subsequent processing, consistently with the practice’s procedures.
- Maintains the treatment area in accordance with OSHA guidelines. Maintains inventories and reorders lab supplies. Reports to the practice’s physician.
Key front-office patient management functions of the job include:
- Helps manage the scheduling of patient visits.
- Helps manage patient visits prior, during, and after each encounter to ensure patient satisfaction and process fulfillment. Documents all follow-up actions.
- Uses the Practice’s patient communication software to ensure timely responses to patients.
- Receives incoming telephone calls and messages from patients.
- Supports encounter claim generation and billing in conjunction with the physicians and the outside billing specialists.
Skills and Experience:
- Requires PA Health Care Assistant certificate.
- Min 5 years Medical Assistant experience in a clinical care setting is required.
- Trained and licensed in PA in phlebotomy and in-house laboratory testing.
- Is prompt and able to perform the required duties of the position on a regular, predictable basis.
- Extensive experience utilizing EHR software (ideally Athena Health, eClinicalWorks, or similar primary care focused tool). Prior experience with Epic is also highly desirable.
- Competent in Microsoft Office and other office productivity applications; generally computer competent.
- Knowledge of third-party billing, coding, and reimbursement procedures and familiarity with CPT codes and ICD-10 classifications (non-clinically).
