Job Description

Maxar is seeking an independent, creative, and driven Software Developer to join our team in Herndon, VA, or at a Northern VA government customer site. The ideal candidate is passionate about technology, able to learn quickly, and is interested efforts in computer vision models and other data-driven solutions.

What would you be doing? 

  • Contribute to the development of data analytics, user workflows and interfaces, security authentication, and service call architecture comprising a family of applications in our software suite 
  • Create rapid prototypes and design and implement complex, cutting-edge systems with a focus on collecting, parsing, managing, analyzing, and visualizing large sets of CV data to extract meaningful knowledge 
  • Work with emerging technologies and data science techniques in support of endeavors to address the critical needs of the Intelligence Community, Department of Defense, and other government agencies.


Minimum Qualifications:

  • Must be a US Citizen, current/active TS/SCI clearance, and willing and able to obtain a CI Polygraph 
  • BS in Computer Science or related degree
  • 3-5 years of related experience
  • Willing to work onsite in Herndon, VA
  • Strong developer, particularly in C++, Python, and shell script
  • Understanding of CMake Conan package manager to build Libtorch from source
  • Experience resolving Linus kernel build dependencies
  • Experience writing and working with GPU-accelerated software
  • Experience using Docker for packaging and delivering data science capabilities


Desired Qualifications:

  • Strong object-oriented programming skills
  • Containerization experience is a plus, particularly using Docker and Kubernetes
  • Cloud services (AWS, GCP, Azure) 
  • Experience in machine learning and data science is a plus 
  • Experience with development tools such as Git, GitLab CI/CD
  • Ability to work both independently and in a team environment 
  • Effective oral and written communication skills to include active listening 
  • Experience with different flavors of Linux including Debian, Red Hat, Ubuntu, etc.
  • Programming in parallel computing
  • Experience with PyTorch, TensorFlow, and Keras
  • Experience working with open-source resources in a government computing environment




Our salary ranges are market-driven and set to allow for flexibility. Individual pay will be competitive based on a candidate’s unique set of knowledge, skills, and geographic diversity, with earnings potential commensurate with experience. The range for this position is:
