LIMS Software Developer

Overview:

East Tennessee R&D Laboratory is expanding its Labware Laboratory Information Management System (LIMS). This system is utilized to develop a more efficient method for tracking the large and ever-growing inventory of material specimens and the associated data. It automates workflows, integrates instruments, and manages samples and associated information. As part of the Labware team, the successful candidate will learn processes in various divisions while configuring and programming LIMS to support workflows for researchers.

Major Duties/Responsibilities:

This position will act as a software developer for the implementation and support of Labware LIMS. The successful candidate must be a highly motivated, detail oriented, self-starter who is comfortable working as part of a team or as an independent contributor. The candidate must demonstrate a strong customer focus and excellent written and verbal communications skills.

Develop Labware-based information management systems:

  • Investigate, analyze, and document current workflows and processes related to materials management.
  1. Gather requirements and build functional specifications for project requests.
  2. Design, implementation, and documentation of program interfaces.
  3. Use LIMS Basic to implement formulas, create event triggers and automation scripts.
  4. Create customized functionality including User Dialogs and Visual Workflows.
  5. Support existing LIMS and interfaces.
  6. Prepare data for inventory and systems migration to Labware LIMS.
  7. Testing and maintenance of LIMS.
  8. Generate Software Quality Assurance (SQA) documentation.

Qualifications:

  1. Education/Experience:
    1. Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science, Mathematical, or another technical field.

Demonstrated professional experience with the following:

  1. Exceptional problem solving and follow-up skills with the ability to meet time sensitive deadlines.
  2. MS SQL Server Management Studio and relational database design.
  3. Experience with systems development, deployment, and training.
  4. Experience with programming or scripting languages.
  5. Experience with development of LIMS-based applications.
  6. Proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite programs.

While not required, the following qualifications are desired.

  1. Experience in the design, planning & implementation phases as well as support of enterprise level applications.
  2. Experience working simultaneously with multiple customers and balancing competing time demands.
  3. Experience with the Labware LIMS product.
  4. Enterprise level experience with the .NET framework in C#.
  5. Experience using Microsoft Visual Studio.
