Substitute School Nurse

Requirements:

• Licensed Practical Nurse or Registered Nurse with valid Iowa licensure
• Current CPR certification
• Mandatory Reporter Certification

Job Description:

• Follows school health policies and procedures
• Maintains accurate and complete health records
• Monitors specific health conditions, which can have an impact on learning.
• Follows the Individual Health Plan to assist all school staff in meeting student's health needs.
• Follows the plan of care and health needs of students. Health plans are listed in the nurse binder with student health files.
• Monitors for outbreaks of infectious and or communicable diseases. Works with appropriate public health agencies when necessary.
• Provides emergency care when needed.
• Administers medication listed by school nurse and documented on the medication administration record.
• If necessary consults with administration, parent/guardian and school personnel to keep the school informed about pertinent health problems and needs of students.
• Supervises the administration of health services by non-licensed personnel as appropriate if necessary.
• Monitors, treats employees with injuries
• Follows the nurse schedule shared with the substitute nurse along with PowerSchool information.
• Other duties as necessary.

Physical Requirements: Bending, carrying, climbing, driving, lifting, pushing/pulling, reaching, sitting, standing, walking.

Pay: $130.50 day
