Job Description
Position Summary
Handle incoming and outgoing packages in an efficient and safe manner while maneuvering on foot and in some instances using a fork truck throughout a warehouse environment.
Essential Duties and Responsibilities
The essential functions include, but are not limited to the following:
- Receive goods and verify the quality and count of all items unloaded from trucks and trailers; check against supplier’s count and immediately report discrepancies to carriers, supervisor, and purchaser per company policy.
- Verify and record all items loaded for shipments.
- Carefully and accurately maintain shipping records for requested categories including goods returned, dunnage, and returnable pallets.
- Maintain database of shipment data to ensure that customer orders are updated and that appropriate billing documents are provided to accounting or other associated departments as required.
- Notify supervisor of major discrepancies, over-shipments, or substitutions.
- Prepare bills of lading and dray tickets for shipments.
- Complete information on damage claims for in-transit damage.
- Transport materials on shipping dock with a hand truck or other vehicle as needed.
- Load trucks or trailers using a forklift.
- Perform other clerical duties.
- Perform other work-related duties as assigned.
Minimum Qualifications (Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities
- Ability to accurately sort, count, and verify items.
- Basic understanding of dock and warehouse procedures.
- Good organizational skills and attention to detail.
- Proficient with Microsoft Office Suite and/or inventory software to maintain records, input data, and create reports.
- High school diploma or equivalent preferred.
- Must be able to bend, stoop, and stand for extended periods of time
- Occasionally lift up to fifty pounds
- State motor vehicle operator’s permit for operation of forklift highly preferred.

- Must be able to traverse distribution warehouse and access a variety of storage spaces and shelving units by stretching, squatting, and reaching.
- Must be able to lift up to 50 pounds at a time.
- Must be able to work in a variety of weather conditions and temperatures in the warehouse and on the loading dock.
While performing the duties of this position, the employee is regularly required to talk or hear. The employee frequently is required to use hands or fingers; handle or feel objects, tools, or controls. The employee is occasionally required to stand; walk; sit; and reach with hands and arms. The employee must occasionally lift and/or move up to 50 pounds. Specific vision abilities required by this position include close vision, distance vision, and the ability to adjust focus. The noise level in the work environment is usually low to moderate.
