So, when you think of summer employment, what comes to mind? I’m guessing you see theme parks, lifeguarding, ice cream stands and restaurants. And that’s true, all of those places will need help during the summer. But, make sure you don’t just stop at those places. There are other employers who will need extra help this summer.
1) Hotels -With the nice weather and school breaks comes tourist season. Hotels will need employees to work in every aspect of the hotel. You can find openings everywhere from front desk to housekeeping to maintenance to guest services. Working at a hotel is a great foot in the door for the hospitality industry. Also, this is an opportunity to work somewhere that may be looking for seasonal help come winter time.
2) Home improvement stores - With the sun finally out, now is the time for people to work on their landscaping, build that perfect patio and stop putting off cleaning the gutters. Home improvement stores will need extra help this season. So, if you love being handy and improvement projects, this may just be the perfect summer job for you. Places like Home Depot have told us that they have already started searching for seasonal workers so make sure you start applying today!
3) Retail – School is out, which means more people have time for some retail therapy. With all the vacations being planned, stores are starting to amp up their summer hiring. Check places that are located close to tourist spots and transportation avenues. For example, a novelty store right next to your city’s famous landmark will definitely need extra help to deal with the rush of tourists this summer.
4) Sports venues – Baseball is in full swing and so is their summer hiring. Whether it’s a stadium, race track or practice venue, businesses have started looking for help this season. This is a great idea for sports lovers and for those who want a variety of options. You can find openings everywhere from ticket takers to popcorn vendors to internships.
