With the holiday season approaching, more and more employers are looking for some extra help. We surveyed over 1,000 employers to get the inside scoop on how you can land a job this holiday season.
More than half of employers will have all their seasonal positions filled before the busy season begins, so it's best to submit your applications as early as possible. Find out what companies are hiring seasonal employees and apply to those first. If you've worked a seasonal job before, try reaching back out to that company because you will have a higher chance of getting a job over newer applicants.
Be the ideal employee.
Hiring managers are looking for three things in particular with all of their seasonal hires. The most important qualities are having a positive attitude, being available to work the needed schedule, and committing to working through the entire holiday season.
Show, don't tell.
The majority of employers feel that viewing a video of an applicant could be helpful in the hiring process. Uploading a video on your Snagajob profile will increase your chances of landing an interview and allows you to show off your personality.
Have appropriate social media.
Over half of employers are checking applicant's Facebook, Twitter AND Instagram accounts. Trust us, posting that one picture of your crazy night on the town isn't worth missing out on a job. Make it easier on yourself by making your social media accounts private.
Employers might seem scary when they are interviewing you, but they're normal people too. Even if you lack work experience or had a small typo on your resume, most hiring managers agree that if you nail your interview the job could still be yours.
Well there you have it, straight from the employers. Follow these tips and you'll have a holiday job in no time!
