Snagajob member, Israel, shared with us how she got hired!
“Hello all! I just figured I’d share a bit about my story and let everyone know that good things do happen to good people! I found my first job on here in 2008 at UPS but I had to leave due to school, so I was in college and looking for a job that would fit with my schedule…nevertheless no luck at the time.
“Since then I had applied to many of jobs which I didn’t even know were hiring and although I didn’t have much work experience I always had hope. I saw a job ad for Aerotek on here and even though they are a temp agency I figured ‘hey why not take a look!’ I applied and within two days I was being called to come in for an interview and although i am no longer a temp I was transferred to a permanent employee at the center!
“Like I tell everyone you are worth more than you think. Just because something may say ‘experienced’ or you don’t think you meet the basic qualifications., APPLY! Nobody is born with experience you learn it and you just gotta jump in the water and feel it out. Don’t let rejection get you down..its a part of life. Winners never quit and quitters never win. The market may be though but don’t let it break your spirit. We are resilient, never stop believing. Beat your fears focus your mind and apply!!”
Congratulations Israel and thank you for sharing your story!
What Israel did right
- She didn’t limit herself – By applying with a staffing agency, Israel was given an opportunity to shine. Her hard work paid off and she gained full time employment from a temporary job.
- She didn’t give up – In a competitive market, you may be applying a while before you hear anything. Israel didn’t let her frustrations get the best of her, and kept going. She was able to find a job that was waiting for someone just like her.
- She stayed positive – Even knowing she didn’t have much work experience, Israel didn’t let that stand in her way. She realized there is still a lot she needs to learn and used that to her advantage. She never stopped believing in herself, which is an extremely powerful job search advantage.
