Snagajob’s season of giving

by: Kim Costa

With the holidays upon us, Snagajob has dedicated itself to finding some of the best hourly workers and presenting them with a gift to thank them for all their hard work. We reached out to some of the employers on our site and asked them to nominate employees who have gone above and beyond to make 2013 a banner year.

Once the winners were selected, we got to go to their places of work and surprise them with a giant check for $2,000! It was awesome. Lots of tears.

Check out the winners and their stories below!

1) Amy from Southern States Corp.

Amy was nominated by her boss for being a valued employee for over 12 years. She is always putting her co-workers before herself and her attitude makes her a joy to work with. In addition, Amy is always giving back to her community. From her nomination letter:

“She never hesitates to accommodate others, no matter the cause or circumstance: Amy would give you the only dollar in her pocket if you needed it, and not think twice about doing so. Truly, Amy has never turned down an opportunity to help someone else if she is able. Amy is the epitome of unselfish when it comes to recognizing that there are always people out there that have it worse and don't deserve to be excluded from possessing the very basic needs and being able to experience joy in life, even in adverse conditions. “

2) Jordan from Chipotle

Jordan was nominated by his boss for his extreme work ethic, professionalism and ability to inspire coworkers. Even though Jordan is a full-time student, he finds ways to mentor those around him, put customers first, and be the type of employee an employer can really depend upon. From his nomination letter:

“He has great personality and very positive person. His strong work ethics has influenced lots of customer’s experience and he has inspired a lot of his co-workers.”

3) Grace from La Petite Academy

Grace was nominated by her company for being a giving and kind person. As a teacher at La Petite for over 25 years, she loves sharing her passion of music with the children and also mentors new associates. In addition, Grace finds the time to volunteer at many different shelters and organizations in her area. From her nomination letter:

“Grace is a wonderful example of a giving, kind person. She is always lending a hand to help others and to assist in any way she can. She is the most unselfish, giving person I know and works hard to include all new team members and to create a family atmosphere here at our school. She finds great joy in helping others, and it clearly shows in her acts of service. We are grateful to have Grace on our team!”

4) Kimberly from Childtime

Kimberly’s boss nominated her for being a pillar in the community and a mentor at work. Her volunteer work has made her someone to look up to and her passion for teaching has made her the ideal employee. From her nomination letter:

“Kim is a community advocate, she is a team player and always willing to help in times of need. She always incorporates the needs of her children and families (creatively coming up with family events and ideas). She is very active in her church and often leads donating to needy families.”

5) Cora from Ross Dress for Less

Cora was nominated by her company for not only being a fantastic employee that always gives 100 percent, but for also taking the time while she’s not working to really make a difference in people’s lives. She is a trusted and valued member of the Ross family and contributes every day to their positive work environment. From her nomination letter:

“Cora comes in everyday with a smile on her face and actively participates in rally meetings and gives suggestions on improving customer service. She comes in everyday and reminds us to enjoy life. The staff sees Ms. Cora as an anchor and someone they can trust.”

On behalf of everyone here at Snagajob, a big thank you and congratulations to all of our winners. Your work speaks for itself but your passion inspires all of us.

Happy holidays!
