When you think of holiday jobs, what comes to mind? Maybe a cashier on Black Friday or UPS drivers that help deliver all those online shopping orders. We decided to go behind the scenes on a not so common seasonal job for this week's Instagram #TakeoverTuesday.
Meet Cathryn! She's had this job for two years now, working from 8 am til dusk each day (so she's seen it all).
"How did you find out about this job?"
"It was random. My childhood best friend sent me a Facebook message and said they were hiring so I figured why not."
"What do you do in the off season?"
"In the spring, we sell berries on the other side of town. It's pretty steady then, but pumpkin season is HUGE."
"So I'm guessing it gets crazy busy here?"
"Oh yeah, you came at the right time." (I went at 8 a.m. on a weekday.) "You should see it here on the weekends. There are hundreds – maybe even thousands of people that come through."
"What kind of customers do you get most often?"
"A lot of families and field trips. This group of 2 year olds came last week. It was the cutest thing you'd ever see."
"Are you a huge pumpkin fanatic yourself?"
"I actually hate pumpkin flavored things – pumpkin pie, pumpkin spice lattes, all of it. But I'm weirdly obsessed with roasted pumpkin seeds."
What a cool job! What other jobs would you want to see behind-the-scenes? Let us know in the comments below!
