Our favorite thing ever here at Snagajob is hearing about our members getting hired – obviously. We work hard to help you find a job that works for you and love to hear the stories.
Sabrina took control of her job search and snagged a job at Kohl’s. Check out her advice and how she found a job:
“After I graduated high school, it was finally time to find a job. It was rough in the beginning. The job search was difficult and no one near me seemed to have applications they wanted to give out or take the time to even talk to me. After some discouragement, I logged online and found Snagajob.
Suddenly, it became easier for me to see what options I had available. I completed my profile and began scrolling through. After ten minutes, I had submitted several job applications and my confidence was boosted once again. Several days later, I received call backs for two of the jobs I had applied for. I was offered a part time position at Kohl’s and I am more than happy that I accepted. My first interview went great and they loved me! I started as a POS associate and have now expanded to working in three other areas of the store in less than two months.
The job search can be tough even for someone with experience because of the amount of applicants and some companies have an exact idea of who they are looking for. Some advice would be not to give up and follow up about the job. If you are able to land an interview, business casual can be a safe bet to choose and be sure to bring extra copies of your information such as your resume, cover letter and references. I brought a folder with me that allowed for me to have extra copies for them to keep on file and to hold items I was given such as an employee handbook and the dress code. Be sure to listen and ask questions if you have any. It’s encouraged that you get all of the information that you can in order for you to better understand the job description and work environment. I suggest bringing a small notepad to jot down info or write questions down to ask later.
My job interview was a group interview with four other people, which can be stressful if you’ve never done one before. I highly suggest taking a deep breath and introducing yourself to the other applicants. It makes the situation seem less awkward and you’re taking the initiative to meet people who could become your future coworkers – which is what many employers want to see.
Thanks to Snagajob, I am finally earning my own money and can officially say I am employed!”
Congratulations again, Sabrina! If you’ve found a job through Snagajob too, share your story.
