The Leidos Corporate Office of Technology has an opening for the Director of the Software Accelerator, located in Reston, VA. The Software Accelerator champions Leidos' technology-based differentiation in all aspects of software development and delivery. The Accelerator provides discriminating technologies, reusable solutions for captures and programs, scalable solutions and enterprise resources, and thought leadership in Software. The Accelerator develops innovative and differentiated software solutions for integration and implementation across all of Leidos' customers. The Accelerator develops these solutions through a mixture of Internal Research & Development (IRAD), Contract R&D (CRAD), strategic vendor partnerships, and harvesting of innovative solutions from existing programs and the Leidos CIO office. These differentiated solutions provide value in our customers' environments that require massive scale, heterogeneity, mission criticality, resiliency, and security. The Accelerator hires and grows top talent in software including solution architects and subject matter experts. The Accelerator provides solution development, technical proposal leadership and mentoring support to strategic captures.
Primary Responsibilities

The Director of the Software Accelerator provides the overall technical leadership for the company in software. The Director is responsible for defining the technical strategy in software. He/she drives software best practices and tools across the entire Leidos enterprise. He/she works very closely with other Leidos accelerators to innovate at scale. He/she collaborates across the Office of Technology (OOT) with Group and Operation CTOs to align technology strategy with the BD pipeline and program/customer needs in software. This includes managing the successful execution of IRAD projects, staffing, budgeting, and adoption by programs and proposals of the solutions. Day-to-day activities range from managing technical staff, to making strategic recommendations on how to allocate resources, to doing public speaking that communicates the Leidos and software vision and capabilities. His/her decisions help drive long-term success, profitability, and growth across the company. The Director also supports, communicates, and implements the technical element of the Office of Technology's technical workforce strategy including building communities of technical talent across the corporation. He/she meets with current and potential customers to demonstrate the company's credentials at solving problems with technically-differentiated and technically-sound solutions. He/she seeks partnerships with strategic suppliers to increase learning opportunities and harvest external technologies to ensure Leidos differentiation. Additionally, he/she identifies external technical talent, manages a team, provides supervision, develops mid to senior level technical staff, and promotes a dynamic, highly-motivated, and inclusive work environment.
Basic Qualifications
•Prior technical roles within similar organizations with growing duties and responsibilities
•Bachelor's degree in a Science, Engineering, or Technology field and 10-15 years of related industry experience
•A recognized expert in his/her field (journal articles/books/white papers), having frequently spoken at high-level conferences
•Excellent technical credentials in fields relevant to software (e.g., software development, cloud, cyber security)
•Experienced at contributing to the solution development for large (>$500M) captures and programs.
•Effective at communicating with senior management including executive leaders and Board members.
•Strong public speaking skills
•Ability to influence and persuade others, and build consensus
•Ability to identify, mentor, lead, manage, and promote talent
Preferred Qualifications
•Master's degree or Ph.D. preferred in a Science, Engineering, or Technology field
•Strong oral and written communication skills
