          APM Steam is a fast growing energy efficiency company. Our experts help our clients save energy and money by developing comprehensive steam system maintenance programs. We are investing heavily on modernizing ourselves with the goal of transforming the industry and providing the best service to our customers nationwide.

          The Sales Engineer is responsible for developing our Chicago/Midwest territory by establishing and maintaining relationships with customers, understanding their needs, and selling our energy efficiency solutions to promote continued growth and drive revenue.

          • Perform market research to identify target accounts in key verticals to develop our Chicago/Midwest territory
          • Travel to tradeshows to represent the company and generate relationships/business opportunities with new contacts (will perform online presentations/meetings until COVID restrictions are lifted)
          • Develop a strong understanding of the services we offer and how they can benefit potential clients
          • Fully understand utility company programs and develop relationships with utility representatives
          • Identify the point of contact with potential customers
          • Call perspective customers and set up appointments to offer our services
          • Overcome objections from customers
          • Provide information from customers to Field Engineers on what they can expect from steam trap surveys and the facility
          • Present sales quotes to clients for repairs and installations to improve the energy efficiency of their facility
          • Develop sales strategies and evaluate their effectiveness
          • Forecast sales and potential business coming in
          • Maintain records of all sales leads and customer accounts in Salesforce
          • Continuously monitor competitors, new products, and market conditions
          • Consistently hit sales target and performance metrics


          • Must live in/around Chicago and be comfortable working remotely from home
          • 5+ years of field/outside experience in HVAC sales, mechanical, energy, or solution-based selling is preferred
          • B2B sales experience preferred but open to candidates with B2C experience
          • Experience selling to manufacturing, higher education, or healthcare market types preferred
          • Experience building a territory from scratch
          • Willingness to develop a territory through cold calls and visits
          • Ability to manage and track sales pipeline; Salesforce is a plus
          • Ability to travel overnight as needed
          • Excellent written and verbal communication skills
          • Strong interpersonal and presentation skills
          • Strong persuasive and negotiation skills
          • Self-motivated and results driven
