Best Yet Express and Best Yet Logistics, provide essential services in the form of less than truckload (LTL) delivery, warehousing, and logistics to local, national, and international manufacturers and distributors.

Under the direct supervision of the Chief Operating Officer (COO), the Commercial driver safely drives a tractor-trailer 53-foot dry van or truck with a capacity of at least 26,000 GVW, or less than 26,000 to transport and deliver freight. Safely transport equipment to and/or from customer locations in a timely, safe and courteous manner.

Job Description:
Essential Duties and Responsibilities:

Follow appropriate safety procedures for transporting freight.
Drive Gasoline or diesel-powered tractor-trailer combinations locally.
Apply knowledge of commercial driving regulations and skills at all time.
May perform emergency roadside repairs.
Obtain receipts and signatures for delivered good and collect payment if applicable.
Check all load-related documentation to ensure that it is complete and accurate.
Pre-Inspection of truck to ensure mechanical, safety, and emergency equipment is in good working condition.
Maneuver trucks into loading or unloading position, following signals from loading crew and check that vehicle and loading equipment are property positioned.
Read Bills of Lading to determine assignment detail.
Report vehicle defects, accidents, traffic violations, or damage to vehicle.
Read and interpret navigation to determine vehicle routes.
Must count the freight in every shipment to confirm that what the shipper s BOL says they are shipping matches the BOL. (Every BOL MUST be signed by the driver stating how many pallets are picked up. In addition, the driver must sign their full name, trailer # and date Every delivery receipt MUST have consignee s signature confirming the amount being delivered matches what the POD says. The consignee MUST acknowledge pieces and pallet count).
Secure freight for transport, using ropes, blocks, chains, binders or covers.
Couple and uncouple trailers by changing trailer jack positions, connecting, or disconnecting air.
Adhere to all policies as outlined in the Employee Handbook & Health & Safety Manual.
Responsible for vehicle pre-inspections prior to leaving the warehouse.
Responsible to follow safety policies and procedures and assist in ensuring a safe work environment.

Other Duties and Responsibilities:

Perform other related duties as assigned by the President, Chief Executive Officer and/or Chief Operating Officer.

EDUCATION:
High School Diploma or GED required.

EXPERIENCE/EQUIVALENT TO:
Two (2) years of direct-related experience within a trucking/logistics company
Demonstrated driving experience is essential

LICENSES/CERTIFICATIONS:
Must hold a valid California Driver s License (Class A) in good standing. Driver must present a current MVR printout with none of the violations below.
Any major violations (DWI, homicide, reckless driving, drugs, leaving the scene) within the last 3-years.
Two or more other moving violations and one at fault accident in the last 3-years.
Two or more at fault accidents in the last 3-years.
