The Technologist is responsible for specimen processing, test performance, and for reporting test results from the CLIA laboratory. Duties and Responsibilities: Performance of authorized high complexity tests authorized by the Laboratory Director and under the direction of the General Supervisor Perform ordered tests on samples provided to the laboratory following established procedures. Testing includes processing samples from the point of arrival of the laboratory to reporting of test results. Participate in regular proficiency testing. Identify problems that may adversely affect test performance or reporting of test results and either correct the problems or immediately notify the general supervisor, technical supervisor, clinical consultant, or Laboratory Director Document all corrective actions taken when test systems deviate from the laboratory's established performance specifications. Assist in performing validation and bridging studies as directed by the Laboratory Director. Maintain confidentiality of test results. Assistance in maintaining the laboratory Monitor supplies to ensure adequate levels are maintained to meet testing demand. Assist in preparing for and participating in regulatory inspections of the laboratory. Assist in development and regular review of standard operation procedures. Other duties as assigned related to the performance of high complexity testing.

Individuals must meet the qualifications for testing personnel as specified in the CLIA regulations and any applicable Virginia state regulations. In general, candidates must meet one of the following combinations of education and experience: • Combination 1: Bachelor's, master's, or doctoral degree in a chemical, physical, biological or clinical laboratory science or medical technology from an accredited institution • Combination 2: Associate degree in a laboratory science, or medical laboratory technology from an accredited institution • Combination 3: Have education equivalent to an associate degree in a laboratory science, or medical laboratory technology that includes at least 60 semester hours from an accredited institution that includes, at a minimum:
