The Katherine Thomas School High School Program (KTHS) serves students in grades 9 through 12 with language and learning disabilities, autism, intellectual disabilities, and/or other health impairments. The Katherine Thomas High School in Rockville, MD is seeking to hire a full-time high school Special Education Teacher Assistant for a 10 months position beginning with the current school year. Teacher Assistant position responsibilities include:

• Assist teachers in implementing content area curricula
• Guide and assist students in the classroom in following the teacher’s instruction and school/program rules
• Provide necessary accommodations to meet individual, group, and program needs
• Create a supportive learning environment
• Implement Positive Behavior Interventions and Supports (PBIS)
• Document student progress through written notes and narrative reports
• Drive the school minivan as needed

Required Experience for the Teacher's Assistant:

• Must have a BA degree in education or a related field
• A valid driver's license with a good driving record
• Experience with students with learning disabilities, Autism, intellectual disabilities, and/or other health impairment preferred
• Ability to read, write, and speak English clearly
• Knowledge of education and behavior management methods, procedures, and techniques
• Must be reliable, maintain a professional attitude, and be team oriented
