EWR Terminal One LLC is an US-based subsidiary of the German airport operator Munich Airport, and is responsible for the maintenance and concession management at Newark Liberty International Airport (EWR) Terminal A. We will also be responsible for operations, maintenance, and concession management services in the new Terminal One at EWR, which is currently under development and scheduled to open in fall 2021. Therefore, we are looking for an experienced and creative
Health, Safety, & Environment Manager
to join our team as soon as possible. The successful candidate will lead and consult on preparing Newark Liberty International Airport’s Terminal One operational readiness for all health, safety, and environment related matters. After the terminal’s opening, the day-to-day management of previously established systems and policies will become your core activity. You will be part of a quickly growing team, helping not only to create safe and sustainable operations of Terminal One, but also to develop the terminal operator company with your expertise and personality. Your office will be at Terminal A at EWR, moving to the new Terminal One as soon as the building becomes available.
Your future responsibilities- Establish a strong safety & environment-focused culture for the Terminal One community
- Lead cultural development within the business and ensure continuous improvement
- Establish and maintain a Safety Management System (SMS) in compliance with 14 CFR Part 139
- Establish and maintain an Environmental Management System, in order to comply with relevant requirements
- Implement and maintain programs, policies, and procedures to ensure compliance with relevant OSHA requirements
- Prepare and maintain required HSE records and reports
- Lead management, facilities, and operations audits
- Develop and manage an effective risk management
- Communicate lessons learned from incidents or other opportunities for improvement by performing or facilitating non-conformity reports, root cause analyses, investigations, customer complaints, and key performance indicators
- Report directly to the managing director
- Prepare and deliver professional presentations to senior management
Your skills & experience- Bachelor’s Degree in an aviation-related or any of the HSE disciplines preferred
- Relevant Safety-certifications (e.g. ASP, CSP) preferred
- ISO Lead Auditor experience preferred
- Experience working in an aviation (close to airport or airline operations) HSE role
- Knowledge of ICAO Annexes, as well as FAA and PANYNJ requirements for Airport Safety & Certification
- Self-starter, able to prioritize and organize targeted and strategic projects or assignments
- Able to deal with a wide range of situations and personalities, good interpersonal skills
- Able to work well under pressure while maintaining a team spirit and cooperative attitude
- Able to conduct public speaking, good presentation skills
- Consistent, detail-oriented, and excellent organizational skills
- Open-minded, committed to continual improvement, a change agent
- Ability to move back and forth between the strategic and tactical aspects of the role, set priorities and produce results under challenging conditions with tight deadlines
- Computer literate, with proficient skills in using the MS Office suite
- Has a good sense of humor!
