The Payroll/Tax Clerk will support the Payroll and Tax teams through various administrative and clerical functions, while maintaining discretion, confidentiality and professionalism with team members and clients. Selected candidate will possess strong organizational and customer service skills. This individual must have a positive approach to change and demonstrate the ability to prioritize and work with minimal supervision, while effectively working under pressure to meet regulatory deadlines and team productivity goals.
Payroll Team Duties to include:
- Performs payroll-related clerical functions including but not limited to garnishment processing, check printing, entering tax and banking information, e-verify audits and account maintenance.
- Performs file imports into payroll system from various sources.
- Processes all unemployment claims and responds appropriately to the designated agency.
- Respond to basic phone inquiries.
- Performs all other duties or special projects as required by supervisor
Tax Team Duties to include:
- Performs tax-related data entry including tax table, tax rate, and tax limits maintenance and updates.
- Process retroactive corrections for client accounts.
- Ensure Data integrity and accuracy; for both employee and employer tax setup.
- Facilitate the opening and closure of tax accounts with Federal, State and local jurisdictions.
- Communicate with clients and prospective clients about basic tax questions.
- Performs all other duties or special projects as required by supervisor
Requirements
- Experience in an office environment, particularly with data entry/processing
- Customer service experience, preferably in a high volume or call center environment
- Attention to detail and problem solving skills
- Proficiency in MS Office, with focus on MS Excel
- High School Diploma Required (Degree in Accounting, Finance, Business or Human Resources preferred)
- Preference given to bilingual Spanish speakers
