Currently, we are seeking a Welder to join our Machine Shop.

Position Purpose

Under the general direction of the Machine Shop/Welding Supervisor, the incumbent will be responsible for welding components used in the assembly of production parts.  The ideal candidate is detail oriented, highly accurate in their work, and is able to perform well under pressure to meet deadlines.

Essential Job Functions (primary duties and outputs of position)

• Qualified TIG welder experienced in welding stainless steel components and its various alloys including Hastelloy and Monel.
• Set-up TIG welding equipment and operate machinery using all safety precautions.
• Must know how to properly use various inspection tools such as calipers, micrometers, radius gauges, tape measure and countersink gauges.
• Inspect machine operations and finished product against specified tolerances.
• Work from specific instructions, diagrams, or models using precision measuring tools.
• Interpret and build from plans, blue prints and understand weld symbols (AWS).
• Analyze drawings and work orders to determine work requirements and the proper sequence of welding tasks to complete the finished subassembly.
• Operate various grinding equipment and tools to smooth and finish welds on metal parts.
• Inspect completed welds to determine structural soundness.

Safety

• Follow safe work practices, participate in safety training as required, and report any unsafe condition or accident.

Quality

• Employees are responsible to understand and support the quality policy and the appropriate elements of the quality management system for their areas of work, reduce, eliminate, and prevent quality deficiencies including escapes.
• Initiate action to prevent the occurrence of nonconformities related to product, process, and quality system.
• All employees have the responsibility and authority to identify quality deficiencies, elevate any concerns for action within or related to our quality system and processes.

Communication

• Communicate effectively in English, both verbally and in writing.

• Maintain effective and constructive working relationships with others both internally and externally.

Education/Work Experience Requirements

• 2-5 years welding experience; welding certification highly desired.
• Experience with TIG welding.
• Working knowledge of shop mathematics.
• Previous experience in precision welding and grinding is strongly desired.
• Skills needed in precision measuring, print reading and fixturing.
• High School diploma or equivalent.

Physical/Travel Requirements

• This position requires bending, walking, sitting, standing, and lifting a maximum of 50lbs.
