Job Title: System Engineer Location: Sterling, VA
Job Description: This System Engineer plays a key role in providing direct system and cybersecurity system engineering support. This program provides enterprise-scale systems and security engineering and integration support to specific Government-sponsored projects, pilots and prototypes. This leadership and advisory role includes solution planning and engineering, defining security requirements, target architecture, interoperability and integration, system testing, Verification and Validation, Modeling and Simulation, studies and analysis, security validation, and project risk management. As part of this team, you will contribute to the engineering of current and emerging mission and cybersecurity systems, policies, and processes to enforce standards and identify vulnerabilities and capability gaps, and reduce cybersecurity risk of DHS environments and other Federal networks. The System Engineer shall lead and support efforts for each project, consistent with customer and program architecture, security, and engineering processes and policies. This position will support data, system, and network needs in the architecture, design, engineering, and implementation of security solutions. The selected candidate will develop and design system architecture and security solutions to maintain confidentiality, integrity, and the availability of information assets throughout the enterprise, and identify and develop improvements to security controls currently in place. Required Skills and Education: • Bachelor's Degree and 5 years work experience; or equivalent experience of 10+ • Experience working in IT or systems engineering roles • Experience working on and supporting classified networks • DoD 8570 certification (Sec+) Responsibilities include: • Assessing system architectures for functional performance and cyber resilience. • Updating architecture documentation and technical configurations to improve cyber resilience of DHS and other federal mission systems. This position is a challenging role in a multi-contractor team supporting a fast moving project. In this role, you will execute tasks and support for multiple related teams supporting various mission systems and initiatives. This task requires expertise in System Engineering and Information Assurance--you need to be the go-to systems person. Establishing a track record of reliability and trust with team members and security stakeholders is crucial. As part of the LP3 team, occasional consulting on other projects as well as RFI and proposal support are also required. Key success attributes: - Strong architecture, network, and host background in Windows and Linux
- Ability to communicate effectively with senior management in government and contractor teams
- Ability to plan, design, and implement secure system solutions - Ability to effectively communicate and advocate key infrastructure and security requirements and control implementation to development teams - Experience ensuring systems comply with key government security requirements and demonstrate that through executing verification testing with government security stakeholders
- Outstanding communication skills including verbal and written; Word, PowerPoint, Excel, Visio, Project, and other tools to communicate with peers and customers at all technical levels Ideal candidate: The ideal person for this role is flexible, hands-on experienced, technically capable, self-motivated, and can effectively influence others to deliver the right solution for the customer. Creativity, personal backbone, and IT sexperience are required. A mix of professional relationship skills and technical skills are required in this role. Travel: Occasional, 2-7 day trips to other CONUS/OCONUS customer facilities may be required 1-2 times per year. This position is offered by LP3.
