    Job Description

    BIG TOOL BOX AND HIGHLANDS GARDEN CENTER IS ACCEPTING APPLICATIONS FOR A GARDEN CENTER MANAGER AT OUR FLAGSHIP STORE IN CENTENNIAL COLORADO.  WE'RE SEEKING A CAREER MINDED INDIVIDUAL,  WITH A LOVE OF PEOPLE AND PLANTS TO OVERSEE GARDEN CENTER OPERATIONS AT OUR BUSTLING, FAST-PACED STORE.
    
    THE IDEAL CANDIDATE SHOULD HAVE A MINIMUM OF 5 YEARS EXPERIENCE IN GARDEN CENTER MANAGEMENT AND POSSESS EXCELLENT COMMUNICATION SKILLS.  THIS PERSON MUST ALSO HAVE LEADERSHIP, TRAINING AND CUSTOMER SERVICE EXPERIENCE. MOREOVER, THE IDEAL CANDIDATE SHOULD HAVE A STRONG KNOWLEDGE OF PLANTS AND GARDEN RELATED MERCHANDISE.
    
    SALARY RANGE: $53,000 AND UP BASED ON CREDENTIALS AND EXPERIENCE.

    Overview: 
    The Garden Center Location Manager oversees daily operations of the garden center. The primary focus of this position is ensuring a positive shopping experience for customers. This person is required to take an active role in all garden center functions, especially employee training, product knowledge and merchandise care. More importantly, the Garden Center Location Manager must enjoy working with people and plants and display an aptitude for problem solving and conflict resolution.

    Requirements

    Minimum education requirements:
    •	High School Diploma or GED
    
    Minimum experience requirements:
    •	At least 5 years of experience in a retail garden center, specifically overseeing a staff.
    •	Strong knowledge of plant material, including annuals, perennials, trees, shrubs, etc.
    •	At least 5 years of experience working with the public, where customer service was the focus.

    Essential Job Functions:
    •	Hire, train, motivate, schedule, review and, when necessary, terminate employees.
    •	Examine merchandise to ensure that it is correctly priced and displayed and that it functions as advertised.
    •	Direct and supervise employees engaged in sales, inventory, cash reconciliation and performing services for 
            customers.
    •	Ensure compliance with all company policies and procedures through regular store management and staff 
            meetings.
    •	Ensure proper maintenance of all plant material through proper watering, trimming, deadheading and pest 
            management.
    •	Manage inventory and transfer of product between stores.

    Physical Activities:
    •	Ability to work on feet (for long periods of time) and in a hot and humid environment.
    •	Able to frequently push or pull moderately heavy objects (approximately 50lbs – 100lbs).
    
    Work Environment
    •	Hot, dry, wet and cold.
    •	Potential exposure to slippery surfaces and allergy irritants.
