    PRODUCTION BAKER

    Avalon International Breads is an Artisanal Bakery and Café which originated in Midtown Detroit in 1997. From the very beginning, we have constantly sourced the best quality ingredients and 100% Organic flour to create delicious products. We seek passionate and hardworking people to help us create and ultimately deliver those products with excellent service and incredible overall experience to our guests. As we produce award winning bread, pastry and food by hand using artisanal methods and the finest ingredients, the same attention to detail is given to develop our teams. Avalon City Ovens is now the main bakehouse where most bakery items are produced.

    POSITION SUMMARY: The Distribution Production Baker supports the daily distribution production by working with the team to create and package high quality baked goods. This includes scaling, mixing and processing ingredients through commercial baking equipment and machinery, rack oven baking, slicing, packaging, & palletizing. The shift times for this position include early morning, afternoon and evening hours. The position will require a high level of accountability, teamwork, and ability to learn and operate machinery efficiently and according to all safety, food safety practices and regulations. This is a full-time position.

    DUTIES AND EXPECTATIONS

    • Follow all Safety, GMP and Food Safety practices according to company policy and FDA regulations.
    • Fulfillment of daily orders along with proper FIFO and lot coding of ingredients and products.
    • Mix, shape and proof and bake dough according to quality standards.
    • Slicing, packaging and palletizing according to operational procedures.
    • Before, during, and after shift, thoroughly cleans production area including surfaces, equipment, floors,
    • and racks.
    • Fills out daily tracking and production paperwork as needed.
    • Working shifts according to specific production timelines to produce daily product volume.
    • Working each shift as a team to successfully maintain Avalon’s values and Mission.
    • Attend and participate in all paid mandatory team and company meetings.
    • Other job duties as required.

    Requirements:

    • Must have open availability to work morning and afternoon shifts, weekends and holidays
    • Must understand knowledge of high-quality products and be passionate about breads and pastries.
    • Desire to learn and to build successful career at Avalon International Breads, LLC.
    • Must be able to lift and carry up to 50lbs a short distance.
    • Can work in a standing position for long periods of time up to 8 hours.
    • Will require bending, stooping, and occasional use of a ladder.
    • Will work with ovens in high temperatures and within the cooler/freezer temperatures with personal protective gear.
    • Must be able to communicate effectively with management and team members.
    • Ability to maintain regular, punctual attendance consistent with the ADA, FMLA and other federal, state and local standards.

    Preferred Skills & Experience:

    • Minimum 1 years of experience in baking production.
    • Degree from a post-secondary culinary arts training program preferred but not necessary.
    • Experience with commercial baking equipment.
