Hospice Care of Southwest Michigan is currently seeking a Certified Nurse Aide to join the team at Rose Arbor, our 18-bed hospice residence in Kalamazoo. This position is scheduled to work (2) 12-hour shifts per two-week pay period (7:00am-7:30pm), including every third weekend and third holiday.

Our Hospice Aides perform various services for a client as necessary to meet the client's personal needs, promote comfort, and enable the client to live in a comfortable environment.

Specific responsibilities of this position include:

• Performing personal care needs after given a client's assignment and attending to their requests promptly. If unable to perform a certain task, reports to the RN or designee immediately.
• Providing or assisting clients in all aspects of personal care including baths, back rubs, oral hygiene, shampoos, and changing bed linen as part of the Plan of Care.
• Performing range of motion and other simple procedures as an extensional therapy service as ordered (within the training limitations of the Aide).
• Assisting in dressing and undressing and feeding the client as assigned.
• Assisting with bedpans and urinals.  Providing assistance as assigned with laundry needs.
• Taking and recording oral and axillary temperatures, pulse, respiration, and blood pressure when ordered (within the training limitations of the aide).
• Providing proper care and observation of the client's skin to prevent breakdown of tissue.

Requirements for this position include:

• High school graduate or equivalent.
• Maintains license as a Certified Nurse's Aide from the State of Michigan.
• Maintains current BLS certification.
• Minimum of one-year previous experience providing direct care.
• Remains up to date on all immunizations required by LARA and agency policy.
• Presents a negative TB skin test and/or chest X-Ray.
