POSITION SPECIFICATION: Senior Accountant

This position will handle various tax matters for the company and support financial operations by performing complex accounting services related to preparing, analyzing, maintaining and reviewing various financial statements, records and reports.

Direct Reports: N/A
Other Key Relationships: This position will work closely with other finance and accounting associates as well other department leaders. External key interactions will be with external auditors, outside tax advisors, and tax authorities.
The senior accountant will manage various taxes for the Company, as well as professor and third party royalties. Additional responsibilities will include fixed assets and production costs.
Specific areas will include:
· Domestic Sales and Use Taxes
o Review and approval of monthly sales tax filings prepared by third party service providers
o Sales and use taxes coordination with our third party service providers
· Federal and State Income Taxes
o Perform monthly entry for tax expense
o Coordination with outside tax advisor for all input data requests
o Review of deferred tax provision annually
o Coordination with AP for payment of tax filings
o Manage signature and mailing process for tax filings
· International Taxes
o Review of Canada sales tax filings and ensuring timely payment
o Coordination of data to international outside tax advisors, review of filings, and ensuring timely payment for UK VAT, Australia GST, and EU Moss taxes.
o Coordination and review of Canada Income Tax Filing
· Manage any sales tax audits.
· Tracking tax legislation and complete tax research projects as necessary.
· Manage all mail received related to taxes and coordinating with the appropriate people.
· Fixed Assets
o Ensure Capital Project Forms are completed correctly and by the appropriate people
o Review capitalized labor reports from technology department and make monthly entry
o Manage acquisitions and disposals within the general ledger
o Perform monthly depreciation calculations in the general ledger
o Reconcile reports to support fixed asset balances
o Responsible for Personal Property Tax filings
· Professor and Third Party Royalties
o Coordinate with marketing and production department for supporting data
o Monthly calculation of royalties
o Bi-annual royalty calculations, reporting, and payments (February and July of each year)
o Quarterly royalty calculations, reporting, and payments for content partners.
· Production costs
o Manage amortization schedules and categorizing courses appropriately
o Production cost allocation and amortization monthly calculations and entries
o Annual sales curve analysis to determine amortization curves
Prepare monthly journal entries, account reconciliations, and various other accounting statements and reports as requested.
In addition, this position will be assigned various special, annual and/or one-time projects.
