About The Facility
Hunter Jumper facility located near Detroit, MI. 22 acre farm boasts 55 stalls and covered arena- which are both heated in the winter. Approximately 60 horses on site including school horses and ponies, client horses, boarders, broodmares, and the occasional foal or yearling. Owner/Trainer lives on property, riding and teaching daily. Average 40-50 hours per week, 5 day work schedule (excluding horse show weeks) with two days off during the week and 1 weekend off per month. Candidate will be required to provide Assistant Trainer/Rider functions to owner. Ideal candidate will have young horse riding experience, verifiable experience jumping over 3 in the hunter and equitation ring. Minimal to no stall cleaning or feeding required. Specifically looking for an assistant trainer to groom to take clients to shows, ride their horses, teach lessons, etc.
Duties include communicating with owner/trainer to manage client and horse schedules, turn in and out with fly sheets/masks/blankets/etc., grooming, clipping as necessary, leg wrapping, administering oral, injectable (IV/IM) and topical medications, tacking/untacking, bathing, blanketing as necessary, handling horses for vet and farrier, keeping track of feed, supplements, and medications to be ordered by owner before running out, and general care for horses living in a 4 season environment. Experience driving truck and trailer a plus. Additionally, experience communicating with clients, sales and marketing of horses and horse show set up/break down/management experience a plus.
? Experience with and riding young horses required
? Experience riding hunters and equitation, or strong foundation in flat work
? Verifiable jumping at 3 or higher
? Teaching lessons to clients of all ages and abilities in hunter and equitation disciplines

Additional Qualifications Recommended
? Minor to moderate veterinary care, injections IV/IM, wrapping, bandaging, etc.
? Young horse handling, halter breaking, desensitizing, ground-breaking under tack, lunging with and without tack, groundwork, loading/unloading, etc.
? Clipping full body clips, trace clips and bridle paths and manes
? Riding of all types of horses including young horses, schoolmasters, lesson ponies, etc.
? Packing trailer and setting up/break down for horse shows
? Set up horse shows, set courses, aid in managing entries, stewarding rings, etc.
? $40, 000-45, 000 annual salary/compensation package based on experience
? 1-week paid vacation after first year of employment, 2-weeks after two years of employment (Vacations must be taken outside of show season, May to September)
