Job Description
The Underwriter/Indirect Funder will manage the fast-paced Indirect funding process, producing high-quality loans for the credit union. Originate, process, approve and close loans in accordance with established policies and procedures. Achieve goals and help promote KALSEE's sales and service culture. Loan approval authority is based on experience. To better serve the indirect markets, the work schedule may include extended hours. This position will underwrite inhouse and indirect applications in the lending queue as well as create new accounts, cash indirect contracts, and support the Indirect Lending Department. This position will also assist the Consumer Lending Manager with various duties.
- Provide excellent team member service to the internal team and to our external dealer partners
- Analyzes information received from credit applications and credit reporting agencies to make sound quality credit decisions
- Negotiates terms and conditions of the loan request within the established guidelines, to ensure credit quality and profitability
- Actively works with dealerships and internal staff to ensure that loans are decisioned, opportunities are captured, and all funding meets or exceeds established expectations
- Meets or exceeds established targets for turn-around time, loan capture, and other business metrics
- Coordinate the post-closing responsibilities for indirect loans including but not limited to cashing indirect loan contracts, open membership, load loan information into system and send funds to the dealers
- Assist in the development of new lending programs/procedures
- Input new loans on core system without errors or omissions
- Participates in business development activities to promote, establish and maintain relationships with indirect dealers in our footprint
- Establishes dealer relationships by building rapport through phone calls, email, and offsite visits
- Maintain a delinquency and charge off percentage acceptable to KALSEE
- Provide support to co-workers regarding policies, procedures, technical inquiries and general lending information questions
- Keeps informed of any regulatory changes concerning indirect lending
- Mentor staff as it pertains to indirect lending
- Bachelor's degree preferred
- 4 years of lending experience preferred
- Excellent member service and communication skills
- Effective problem-solving skills
- Must be organized and able to manage a high level of loan activity
