Job Summary:

Hayes Jeep is seeking a hard-working, talented individual to be part of a great group of Jeep enthusiasts, focused on creating a fun purchase and ownership experience for our clients and a culture of excellence. We love it when our customers and friends tell us they’ve never had a car buying experience as great as the one they had with us! We are seeking an Automotive Sales Professional who is looking to make a home, build a career, and hone their professional skills. We are a local, family-operated business that has enjoyed a great reputation in our community for 100 years. Our powerful sales team includes some of the most experienced and supportive Sales Managers in the business, who will teach you the ins and outs of the automotive sales profession and empower you to build a lasting career with us.

Orrin B. Hayes, Inc. has been established in Southwest Michigan for 100 years. Started in 1920, our founder, Orrin B. (Pug) Hayes, coined our motto "Service Sold It" Since 1920, a slogan that continues to sum up our customer service philosophy today. Located in Kalamazoo, the dealership is now run by two of Pug's great-granddaughters, Amy Krone and Amanda Woodruff, the fourth generation of Hayes family members to operate the store.


  • Complete extensive and ongoing training regarding the product line and sales process
  • Guide clients through the car buying process via in-person, phone and email interactions
  • Spend time with customers to determine their needs and match them with the appropriate vehicles and products
  • Answer and place inbound and outbound phone calls and emails to convert them into appointments
  • Follow up diligently with existing and potential customers to generate leads and close sales
  • Prospect daily for potential customers and maintain consistent rapport with previously sold customers
  • Maintain an owner follow up system that encourages repeat and referral business and contributes to customer satisfaction
  • Know the inventory and assist in maintaining the inventory to ensure it is clean, organized, and well-displayed
  • Maintain customer satisfaction scores at or above company and manufacturer standards

Minimum Qualifications:

  • Experience in retail sales, customer service, the hospitality industry or call centers; automotive sales experience is highly preferred but not necessary for this role
  • Proven track record of success in past roles
  • Steady work history
  • Ability to remain competitive and coachable while working in a fast-paced sales environment
  • Ability to self-motivate to achieve performance and sales goals. This is a career that you can treat almost like your own business
  • Ability to think creatively, apply common sense and problem solve
  • Strong written and verbal communication skills
  • Basic Microsoft Office knowledge as well as computer software and internet proficiency
  • Ability to adapt well to change with the willingness to maintain a flexible schedule, including nights and weekends
