The Associate Director (AD) is responsible for leading Systems Integration and Test Office (SITO) personnel located on the East Coast. This is a regional role that includes providing support as a valued contributor to the Mission Assurance Subdivision (MAS) employees by ensuring a continuity of communication with leadership and mission area customers. This role offers a diverse range of capabilities that enable and support the effective implementation and acquisition of technical and programmatic mission assurance activities for satellite, launch vehicle, and the associated ground systems. Your leadership of this cross-cutting portfolio will influence the Mission Assurance Subdivision customer base and shape the future of our ETG community. SITO is the Aerospace Engineering Technology Group (ETG) source of expertise in Systems Integration - including technology insertion, and system engineering applied to operationally realistic tests. SITO staff support all program phases from pre-contract assistance with concepts of operation, integration planning, system test planning, design and development activities followed by build, integration, verification, and transition to operations events. Key Functions Entrepreneurial role that seeks and identifies opportunities for additional, expanded and new business and assists higher management in the evaluation and pursuit of new MAS opportunities. Participates with higher management to establish organization's objectives and goals and communicates them to subordinates and interfacing matrix organizations. Conducts organization's activities consistent with corporate policiespractices, goals, and objectives. Sets performance standards assesses sufficiency and quality of organization's services. Cooperates and communicates frequently with customers across MAS to coordinate and report work progress, issues, and results. Conducts work performance within customers' standards and regulations. Participates selectively in day-to-day technical task planning and issue resolution coordinates work activities with counterpart and common-task participation organizations. Plans andor leads technical projects related to Systems Integration, System Verification and Test, and technology insertion Develops and maintains strong and effective working relations within MAS and with other ETG organizations, internal and external customers, and contractors Develops and executes strategic planning with management to establish and improve the organization's technical capabilities Sets and manages expectations to inspire staff with technical excellence and product delivery Identifies, selects and assigns engineering personnel, monitors quality of work outputs resolves significant technical and administrative problems Conducts staff performance reviews and recommends performance improvement, career development, salary and promotion actions establishes staffing needs and recommends reassignments, training, transfers, and other staff deployments assists other supervisors in evaluation and assignment of staff Qualifications Required Ideally twelve or more years of related systems engineering experience Bachelors degree in engineering, science or mathematics Demonstrated strong systems engineering skills with respect to mission assurance activities on satellite, launch vehicle, andor the associated ground systems Demonstrated technical and programmatic experience across program phases related to planning in the areas of systems integration, system test and verification and to design and development activities related to system integration and system verification integration, verification, and transition to operations events Demonstrated technical leadership and strong interpersonal skills required for interacting with Aerospace peers, internal and external customers, and contractor representatives Demonstrated commitment to people and their professional growth Must be technically persuasive with strong written and verbal communication skills Must have demonstrated ability to clearly define technical tasks, form and lead technical teams, establish priorities and motivate outstanding performance Current TS SCI Clearance. Preferred An advanced degree Progressively increasing responsibility related to Systems Integration, Systems Engineering aspects of integration and verification, and Systems Verification Test Familiarity with Model-Based Systems Engineering Familiarity with corporate mission assurance practices Demonstrated experience in a supervisory role Demonstrated ability to develop staff and facilitate their efforts toward successful customer support Demonstrated ability to meet administrative, budgetary and technical constraints and schedules Equal Opportunity Commitment The Aerospace Corporation is an Equal OpportunityAffirmative Action employer.
