Job Description

The Good Shepherd Alliance, Inc. is looking for a person who wants to make a difference in the lives of homeless and near homeless people in our community. The Good Shepherd Alliance is seeking a full time Facility Manager to oversee our residential and commercial properties.  The Facility Manager is responsible for the daily operation, upkeep and maintenance of seven individual properties to include supporting our commercial retail properties.

The Facility Manager is responsible for the effective operation, appearance, and maintenance of our seven residential shelters and support of our retail division. Evaluate, maintain, and document the condition of all properties.

Extensive knowledge of building trades including plumbing, utilities, electrical, HVAC and carpentry, in addition to knowledge of facility construction, applicable building codes, local zoning and ordinance regulations, mechanical and electrical systems and their maintenance.

Duties and Responsibilities

  • Schedule, monitor and conduct preventative maintenance on related equipment, HVAC, electrical and plumbing systems, carpentry, dry wall, exterior structure, parking lots and appliances.
  • Coordinate and manage contractor service repairs and maintenance according to procedures. Coordinate with service vendors and oversee major repairs.
  • Strong technical skills identifying and diagnosing maintenance issues.
  • Excellent prioritization, time management and organizational skills.
  • Attention to detail and commitment to our residents and Mission.
  • Ability to manage several tasks at once while remaining detailed and well organized.
  • Perform and maintain work records and schedules for daily, weekly, monthly, quarterly, semi-annual, and annual preventative maintenance.
  • Coordinate with case management for move in/move out schedules of our residents and perform assessment inspections to determine general maintenance repairs.
  • Conduct preventative maintenance and oversee the construction/rehabilitation needs of our properties.
  • Manage open service repair requests through Smart Sheets
  • Ensure that policies and procedures as well as safety and compliance expectations are met.
  • On-call responsibilities to respond to after hour emergencies.

Job Requirements / Qualifications

  • Strong technical skills identifying and diagnosing maintenance issues.
  • Excellent prioritization, time management and organizational skills.
  • Attention to detail and commitment to our residents and Mission.
  • Strong adherence to ethical standards including, but not limited to, the ability to maintain confidentiality.  
  • Ability to manage several tasks at once while remaining detailed and well organized.
  • Ability to solve problems and make decisions.
  • Practical knowledge of day-to-day residential and commercial maintenance.
  • At least three or more years of hands-on residential and commercial building maintenance experience is desired.
  • Must have experience in electrical, plumbing, HVAC, carpentry, dry wall, painting, repair skills and general knowledge of exterior structural design and appliances.
  • Ability to handle all of the physical demands of the positions, including ability to lift, carry, push and pull up to 50 lbs
  • Basic English language proficiency in reading and writing required
  • Must have a valid driver's license and good driving record
  • Must have reliable transportation to use for work purposes
  • Ability to be on-call to respond to after hour emergencies
  • Good communication skills with excellent self-discipline and patience.
  • Perform work tasks within the physical demand requirements as outlined above

Education:

·         High school diploma or equivalent.

  • Building, Trade, Engineering Certifications, a plus
