The Record-Journal, located in Meriden, Connecticut, is looking for an experienced reporter fluent in English and Spanish to cover Meriden and Wallingford, especially residents of color and historically underrepresented groups.
The beat entails listening to and understanding the needs and concerns of residents, including Meriden and Wallingford’s large and diverse Latino communities, and providing content that matters most to them.
Coverage will include issues of education, healthcare, housing and jobs, including disparate access to opportunities and disparate impacts of the COVID-19 pandemic.
We want a reporter who will be aggressive in developing sources in the community in pursuit of stories that inform our readers’ daily lives through fact-based reporting on local issues they can’t find anywhere else.
This position requires social media acuity and a multimedia skillset.
