About the Role We seek a seasoned Scrum Master who can help lead and support software development teams focused on building next generation education solutions software. As Specialist III, Scrum (a.k.a. Scrum Master) you will use leadership, communication, technical, and organization skills to effectively coach the scrum team on Agile best practices, remove impediments, enhance collaboration, and ensure that the team delivers high quality working software to the customer. You must have demonstrated ability to provide solutions and ideas to create a more effective scrum team. Communicates Effectively bull Assist with internal and external communication strategies to improve transparency, and radiate information. bull Effectively communicate sprint status including risks and dependencies in Scrum of Scrums meetings, etc. Collaborates bull Coordinate work, promote collaboration, and track work among scrum team members. bull Collaborate and manage any dependent work across scrum teams. bull Support the Product Owner through management of a prioritized product backlog. bull Support the BA in creating User Stories following the INVEST model and help manage the backlog health of the scrum team Optimizes Work Processes bull Help balance the prioritization of technical debt against new feature innovation and software delivery especially if feature delivery deadlines have been set. bull Identify process gaps and probable solutions to close the gaps and build team efficiencies. bull Protect the Sprint backlog and allow scrum team to focus on delivering committed work by reducing interruptions and removing impediments. Be Open and Authentic bull Create and foster a positive and open communication channel between scrum team members, Project Manager, and stakeholders. bull Foster a culture of collaboration, teamwork, innovation, and service excellence at the Clearinghouse and help resolve any issues. bull Provide feedback and ideas on improvement of Scrum practices across the Clearinghouse to help team become more streamlined and effective. What You Bring to the Table bull Bachelorrsquos degree in Computer Science or related field, and 8 total years of IT experience. A combination of education and experience, including military service will also be considered. bull 3-5 years of Agile delivery experience andor recent hands-on experience as a Scrum Master. bull Agile certifications such as Certified Scrum Master (CSM), Certified or Professional Scrum Trainer (CST, PST). bull Highly self-motivated with a passion for leading Scrum teams to continually improve quality and delivery. bull Proven experience o Leading software development teams as a Scrum Master, coupled with strong leadership skills. o Working on enterprise wide projects. o Building relationships with stakeholders and managing scrum deliverables. bull Working knowledge of o Scrum principles and proficiency with Agilescrum development methodology. o Software Development Lifecycle and software quality disciplines. bull Demonstrated ability to o Work both independently and on a team. o Facilitate problem solving, and resolution. bull Excellent interpersonal and communication skills, both oral and written, with technical and non-technical audiences. bull Strong conflict resolution, time management, and analytical skills. bull Demonstrate a professional, positive, and personable demeanor. bull Proficiency with Microsoft Office Suite and other collaboration tools. bull Live within a commutable distance of Herndon, VA. Additional Desired Requirements bull Second level Scrum Master Certification (CSP, PSM II). bull Demonstrated experience working in a Scrum Master role for multiple teams andor experience leading a team. bull Knowledge of other Agile approaches Scrum, Kanban, XP, SAFe, etc. bull Knowledge andor experience with widely successful techniques that facilitate Agile like User Story Authoring, ATDD, TDD, CICD pipeline, Pair Programming, Mobbing, Automated Testing, Agile Games.
