    Job Description

    Job Description

Vendrive's mission is to place the right products with the right customers by unifying brands and retailers. We're making it easier for brands to start and manage their wholesale and dropshipping programs with a commission-free B2B marketplace. Retailers are matched with products that have the highest likelihood of selling through in their storefronts, and brands are able to more efficiently process orders and applications to expand their retail network. We don't take over the relationship we simply facilitate it.

You'll be joining a small tight-knit team that's building this platform from the ground up. With first-hand experience as retailers ourselves, we've been exposed to the inefficiencies both retailers and brands deal with on a daily basis. With our background in software engineering and knowledge of the industry, we set out to level the playing field for small and large brands and retailers alike.

Having started as a bootstrapped SaaS company, we've built up two subscription-based tools that collectively generate over $1.3 million in annual recurring revenue. Being self-funded, we have the benefit of autonomy as we find traction.

    About the role

As a founding frontend engineer at Vendrive, youll be building a platform that brands and retailers rely on to run their operations. We have a small but mighty engineering team. Weve done a lot with a little, but theres much more work to be done. To continue our growth, we need to hire a world-class engineering team. Youll help us get there by owning end-to-end projects, talking with customers, and ultimately supporting the growth of Vendrive (both the product and the business).

    What you'll do

A frontend engineer at Vendrive collaborates closely with our product designer to craft a product that delights our users. You will build out the minimum lovable product and extend its core functionality.

New features often start off as customer ideas. Youll take those ideas and scope, build, test, document and ship them to production. Outside of customer feedback, youll also weigh in on our product roadmap which is set collaboratively by design and engineering.

Youll be working primarily in React and Typescript with a Golang backend.

We're a hard-working, passionate bunch who are motivated by collaboration, strong results, and reshaping the wholesale and dropshipping ecosystems. When were in the office, we enjoy eating lunch (and occasionally dinner!) together, and swapping stories. But at the root of it all, we come together to show our customers and not-quite-yet customers how Vendrive can make them and their companies more efficient and successful.

    • Write technical blog posts (e.g. "here's how we implemented role-based access controls") and documentation (e.g. if you build the Shopify integration, you will write documentation on how it's used)
    • Help assess and recruit future engineers.

    Requirements

    • Willing to relocate to Boston, MA.
    • 5+ years experience in professional frontend development, ideally some of which youve spent in startups.
    • Either a Bachelors degree in a technical field involving coding (e.g., Computer Science, Engineering, Physics, Mathematics) or equivalent technical experience.
    • Significant experience working with Javascript/Typescript and React.
    • Previous experience working closely with designers, building flexible, composable libraries and components.
    • You sweat the important details and are passionate about maintainable, scalable CSS.
    • Experience owning technically challenging and demanding cross-functional projects.
    • A record of identifying valuable projects, communicating the strategy for them, and executing on them autonomously.
    • A customer-first mindset and an interest in talking with customers to make sure what were building is a polished product meeting their needs.
    • Habit of introspection and understanding whats helped you be successful in the past.
    • Help assess and recruit future engineers.
    Bonus points
    • You've designed or worked on software in the retail or ecommerce space.
    • Experience mentoring other team members.
    • You bring unique strengths and perspectives to the team. We're looking to build a diverse team where our skills and experience can complement each other.

    Benefits

    • Comprehensive Health - Health, dental and vision insurance is offered through BCBS and Guardian. Vendrive covers 80%.
    • Bright & Sunny Office - We're centrally located in Downtown Crossing by South Station, with an easy commute from anywhere in Boston.
    • New Equipment - You'll receive new equipment including a laptop, two monitors, and any other accessories you need to do your best work.
    • Competitive Salary & Equity - We value the importance of having skin in the game with option grants, while also offering competitive Boston-area salaries.
    • Take-What-You-Need PTO - Work hard, then take the time you need to reset and recharge. We value deliverables over the time spent creating them.
    • Team Retreats* - We get together as a team twice a year in locations around the country to share, learn, and cut loose.
      • *When things get back to normal!
