Senior Software Engineer

Location: Reston, VA

*** The position will begin REMOTE but is subject to change any time to work at the customer site***

Vexterra Group has an immediate vacancy for a Senior Software Engineer in Reston, Virginia or Bethesda, Maryland to play key role with the platform software design and development monitoring and optimization of the Elasticsearch storage layer for the Document Media Exploitation (DOMEX) Data Discovery Platform (D3P).  The DOMEX Data Discovery Platform (D3P) program is a next generation machine learning pipeline platform that will provide cutting edge data enrichment, triage, and analytics capabilities to Defense and Intelligence Community members. 

Primary Responsibilities include but not limited to:

• Collaborate and work with a diverse group of engineers in developing solutions for ingesting heterogeneous datasets in large volumes
• Develop python code following our coding and unit testing standards
• Help with troubleshooting the code and helping to fix the issues
• Understand the dependencies and integration points
• Configure, fine tune, test, troubleshoot code related to Elastic clusters and environments
• Work with infrastructure and architects team to plan resources and continuously optimize the infrastructure and configuration of Elasticsearch to ensure a healthy and high-performance production deployment 

Requirements:

• 5+ years experience with Python, Linux/Bash
• 2+ years of hands-on experience with Elasticsearch
• Experience with kafka, kubernetes, docker
• Experience with DevOps/DevSecOps and CI/CD implementation
• Experience with JIRA, Git repo and Confluence
• Experience working with a highly technical team and in a dynamic, fast-paced environment
• Willing to dive into new code, diagnose issues, relay them to teams for fixing.
• Self-motivated and self-starter
• Very good communication skills
• Ability to work in small (6-8 team members) or large teams (10+ members)

Education:

• Bachelor’s Degree with 8 years of relevant experience or Master’s Degree with 6 years of relevant experience or 4 years of additional years of experience in lieu of Bachelor's Degree

Security Clearance:

• Active DoD TS/SCI security clearance 
• Active CI Poly or ability to obtain one
