      Job Description

      Job Summary The Controls Engineer implements and maintains plant equipment, systems and other fixed assets to a high standard of safety, quality and productivity at the lowest possible cost while maintaining compliance with all applicable regulatory requirements. This role provides electrical, controls system, software, and instrument support to all aspects of the operation. Job Responsibilities PLCs Instrumentation and Data Collection Work with vendors to design, implement, and maintain plant floor data collection Utilize collected data for dashboards, troubleshooting, and advance controls Own all data backups strategies Determine a strategy for rebuild vs. replace cost scenarios Hands-on Assistance Support and assist the Maintenance staff with troubleshooting, repairs, upgrades, PMs, and projects Collaborate with maintenance staff and vendors during installation of controls-based equipment Provide support and direction to Technicians as needed interact cross-functionally with other department personnel as required, to create a cohesive team for the development and delivery of key projects and factory operations Projects Install new hardwareinstrumentation for costquality enhancements Controls Project scope includes design, fabrication, integration, and install Keep abreast of technology advances and plant processes Provide project management assistance for integration on major capital expenditures which ensures projects are on time and within budget, and fully functional Execute strategies for automation, controls, and technology, which will reduce cost and improve product quality. Training Collaborate with Maintenance Manager and HR to determine Good Foods training needs Keep abreast of technology and equipment developments Provide training and documentation to meet the company's needs Coordinate outside vendor training classes Qualifications B.S. Degree in Engineering, Controls Engineering preferred 5+ years of manufacturing experience including at least 2 years of experience in food processing or similar industries Excellent verbal and written communication skills Strong computer skills, and proficiency in MS Office and AutoCAD Working knowledge in the design, manufacture, installation, maintenance and operation of food processing, packaging, and building utilities equipment, electrical power distribution, hydraulics, pneumatics, mechanical systems and facility design Advanced knowledge of Rockwell Automation software Factory Talk, RSLinx, Panel Builder, Control Logix, and RS Logix 5000500 Experience creating new PLC programs from scratch and troubleshooting older programs Automationrobotic experience with case packing and palletizing strongly preferred Preferred areas of expertise should include electronics, control logic methodology, instrumentation, and data collections systems (including PLCs, HMIs, VFDs, device network, EthernetIP Protocol, TCPIP, DH+, CANbus, ARCnet, BACnet, EZ Relays, sensors, multi-meters, Electrical diagramsdocumentation, and strong PC skills)
