        Job Description

        About Ziegler's Ace Hardware - An Essential Business
        Ziegler's Ace is one of the longest continuing businesses in Illinois that started in 1856 as Meehan's Hardware in Elgin, IL. Lyle A. Ziegler purchased Meehan's in 1930 and in 1934 joined Ace Hardware Corporation. Other Ziegler's Ace stores opened and four generations later, we are proud to have owners, David Ziegler, CEO and his son, Adam, President, as leaders of nine stores in the Fox River Valley area.
        Purpose: Supervises store staff to provide an Amazing Customer Experience through helpful and friendly service that ensures customer needs are being met and encourages customers to make Ace their store of choice. 
        SALES
        1.	Greet customers with a smile and offer assistance.
        2.	Engage the customer and ask questions to determine their needs.
        3.	Recommend, help locate, and select the right merchandise.
        4.	Describe the benefits and features of each product.
        5.	Demonstrate the use and operation of the product.
        6.	Offer add-on sales to complete a project.
        7.	Notify customers of current items that are on promotion.
        8.	Provide information about warranties, manufacturing specifications, care and maintenance of 
                       merchandise including delivery options if any.
        9.	Process Special Orders for non-stock items.
        10.	Answer customer queries and promote the store, products and services.
        
        MERCHANDISING
         
        1.	Retrieve back stock and replenish merchandise; stock incoming merchandise.
        2.	Shelf condition to keep merchandise neat, clean and organized.
        3.	Assist with timely setting of seasonal items.
        4.	Update signage on bins and displays.
        5.	Stay current on sales and sale pricing; update price bin labels.
        6.	Remove sales and promotional displays/ prices, and rearrange stock following seasonal or 
                       promotional events.
        7.	Perform cycle counting/shooting outs to maintain accurate inventories.
        8.	Follow up on Inventory Exception Reports.
        9.	Keep the back room and storage areas neat, clean and organized.
        
        CUSTOMER SERVICE
        
        1.	Perform all tasks and services in a helpful and friendly manner.
        2.	Perform/request services such as Key Cutting, Pipe Cutting*, take Window and Screen Repair 
                       orders, etc.
        3.	Utilize computer systems to perform duties such as mixing paint, to access AceNet, the intranet, 
                       POS for cashiering, Window and Screen Repairs, etc.
        4.	Do carry-outs and take product out for the customer or load onto the customer's vehicle.
        5.	Handle customer concerns professionally and resolve to complete customer's satisfaction.
        6.	Always thank our customers and invite them to return to the store.
        
        Other Responsibilities:
        
        1.	Handle timely opening and closing of store.
        2.	Coach, guide, and train associates on front end and back end procedures.
        3.	Ensure company and store policies are upheld.
        4.	Attend training sessions as required and offered by the company.
        5.	Use hand jack to move pallets of merchandise.
        6.	Maintain a list of customer requested items.
        7.	Operate the forklift* and baler* as requested.
        8.	Be alert for shoplifters and take appropriate action.
        9.	Perform function of backup Cashier as needed.
        10.	Help maintain store cleanliness.
        11.	Assist with implementation of new programs designed to improve our services and offerings for 
                       customers.
        12.	Promote teamwork and a positive work environment.
        13.	Always follow safety practices and keep safety in mind for yourself, the customer and team 
                       members.
        
        *Only employees who are 18 years of age or older and who have been fully trained in using the pipe cutter, forklift or baler may operate this equipment.
        

        Requirements
