OPERATING ROOM MANAGER

Directs and supervises nursing services for surgical and procedural patients, planning and directing 24-hour operations to provide optimal care within budgetary allowances. Operating Room leaders are accountable to many people, first and foremost to the safety and care of the patients/families on their units, the staff they lead and the institution that employs them. But they also must hold staff members (direct and indirect) accountable to provide safe and appropriate care. Innovative, leaders are the change and are problem solvers. Nurse Leaders enable colleagues to act by strengthening others through teamwork, encouragement and empowerment. They model the way with professionalism and dedication and set an example for others to follow.
Essential Job Duties:
Supervises and coordinates nursing care of surgical and procedural patients 24 hours a day. Supports organizational structure, serving appropriately in the chain of command. Promotes professional behavior in self and others. Maintains an attitude of objectivity in all situations, especially conflict resolution. Demonstrates compromise, cooperation and assertiveness, but not aggression. Demonstrates and provides a spirit of cooperation in all departments. Coordinates staffing needs with Nursing Management including involvement with the hiring process and scheduling. Establishes standards of nursing care, keeping policies and procedures current. Interprets hospital policies and regulations to providers, staff members, patients, visitors and ensures compliance. Identifies educational needs of staff and works with CNO to facilitate. Monitors availability of staff, supplies and functional equipment, evaluating products and equipment. Facilitates personnel meetings and delegates responsibilities within the scope of staff abilities. Participates actively in selected committee activities and helps represent hospital interests in the community. Performs duties in nursing care of surgical and procedural patients as needed. Takes on-call time as needed. Carries out other duties as assigned by Nursing Management and per job description.
Candidate must have current WA State RN license. Current certification in ACLS, & BLS is required. Should have 2-3 years of progressively responsible experience in hospital nursing, including leadership assignments. Must be proficient in orthopedic, general and OB/GYN surgeries. Must have excellent communication and discretional skills. Must be able to respond within 30 minutes when on-call as per job description and DOH compliance.
Variable days and hours including some evening and weekend call time.
1.00 FTE; Benefit eligible.
