            Job Description

            Job Title: Chief Public Information Officer

            Position Type: Unclassified/Exempt

            Department: College Administration

            Reports To: Chancellor

            Job Summary:
            Full time 12-month professional executive staff member will serve as the senior advisor to the Chancellor; plan, direct and assist in the design, production and implementation of all advertising, marketing and public relations activities; represent, communicate and speak on behalf of the organization in interviews and press conferences; and direct the response to all inquiries from outside the organization and serve as the liaison between the organization and all media.

            Summary of Duties:

            • Assist the Chancellor with speeches, remarks and digital presentations.
            • Schedule and maintain the Chancellor's calendar.
            • Inform the public of the college's innovative programs, positive developments, employee promotions, personal achievements, retirements and other goodwill information.
            • Oversee, develop, plan and maintain the college's social media efforts.
            • Research and draft correspondence and media communications requested by the Chancellor. Oversee the design and production of all marketing, public relations and advertising materials.
            • Study the college's strategic plan, goals and objectives to develop PR and marketing strategies.
            • Work as part of the senior leadership team to manage a large volume of projects and activities with skill and diplomacy.
            • Ensure that the Chancellor's priorities and strategic initiatives are communicated, well-coordinated, and implemented.
            • Serve as a liaison between the Chancellor's office and internal/external constituents.

            Minimum Qualification/Work Experience:
            Bachelor's Degree required with 8 or more years of experience in public relations, communications/media, journalism or marketing; possesses outstanding organizational and oral and written communication skills; computer knowledge, and demonstrated creativity. Evidence of successful media campaign or project, experience in use of multiple media and communication tools and applications and experience with developing promotional materials and/or presentations.

            Preferred Qualifications/Work Experience:
            Master's Degree with 5 or more years of experience.

            Physical Demands:

            • Ability to be able to lift up to 25lbs, ability to perform the following activities minimally up to 10% of the time, Bend; climb; crawl; reach; sit; squatting/kneeling; stand; twist; walk; work above shoulder.

            Work Hours:
            40 hours per week, a flexible schedule may include evenings and weekends; some overtime may be required.
