The Brain Health Unit (BHU) is comprised of two 40-bed units. Staff members in the BHU are good communicators and can set boundaries, hold confidences, and establish and maintain trust. Patients in the BHU are admitted with medical and psychological diagnoses. The length of their stay is between 20-25 days, which provides an opportunity for clinical staff to analyze patient's behavior and cultivate a relationship that may help a patient see him-or herself in a better way. During their stay, patients will receive help with medication management and rehabilitation services if needed. Staff members will also assist in engaging patients in group activities and one-on-one exercises. Job Summary: The Licensed Practical Nurse utilizes a general understanding of the principles of nursing and basic physical assessment skills in the development of and implementation of individualized nursing care plans to ensure that the needs of the residents are met; assists in the orientation of the supervision of nursing personnel; and attends to the daily operations of the unit on a per shift, unit level, and assumes responsibilities of a leadership role as needed. Requirements: Formal working knowledge; equivalent to an Associate's degree (2 years college); requires knowledge of a specialized field; License for Practical Nursing; Basic computer skills, Synquest IV Pump, Phillips Monitoring System, Accucheck, EKG Machine, Specialty Bed Operation. Less than one year of experience.
