                            Job Description

                            Want to challenge yourself creating delightful design AND make a difference in the world?

                            A bit about us:

                            Who Gives A Crap makes toilet paper that's good for the planet, good for people and good for your bum. All of our products are made sustainably without trees and we donate 50% of profits to help build toilets in developing countries. To date, we've donated over $1,800,000 and we're just getting started!

                            We're one of the fastest growing ecommerce businesses in Australia, and are now aggressively entering the North American and European markets, with insanely ambitious growth targets for this year and beyond. We currently have a team of about 80 people working out of "hubs" Melbourne, Manilla, Los Angeles and Hong Kong. We're never happy with the status quo, though, so we're planning to double or triple our team in the next year, and we won't stop growing until everyone in the world has access to a toilet. So... that's where you come in! 

                            A bit about the role:

                            At Who Gives A Crap, our Creative, Growth Marketing and Digital Product teams work extremely closely to create the most delightful, onbrand and high performing work possible. We're looking for a creative to lead the growth and digital product work on behalf of the creative team. You're a designer/art director who understands (and loves) the intersection of creative, brand, growth, data and insight driven work. 

                            Reporting to our Creative Director , you'll directly manage our super talented Digital Designer and work within a kick ass Creative Team who aren't afraid to put a fart button on an email. 

                            You'll be leading the collaboration between the Creative Team and Digital Product team, making sure our product pages are on brand and are injecting delight where possible. While you don't have to be a UX designer, you do know how to talk the talk and understand best practice ecommerce to bring out the best in your collaborative efforts with our Digital Product team. 

                            You'll also be the point person for our Growth Marketing team. We test new channels often, so you could be doing anything from redesigning our email flows to working out how to test out a chat bot to thinking through static ads for a test on Pinterest. The work is varied, high paced and we're looking for someone who loves figuring stuff out, thinks big picture concepts and is always looking for opportunities to drive amazing work. 

                            Are you a designer who reads? You've got the job. Just kidding, but seriously, we've written a lot of information about the role below so you can get a good feel for the role and see how awesome it is!

                            If you worked here this past month here are some things you might have been involved in:

                            • Went on a surprise team excursion and participated in our weekly creative team exercise
                            • Worked with our Digital Product design team to make sure the changes to our subscriber dashboard is on brand
                            • Brainstormed new ways we can measure our Creative Team's performance in our upcoming quarterly OKRs
                            • Worked closely with our email marketing manager to take learnings and redesign one of our new customer journey flows 
                            • Attended a lot of very serious meetings where we all get to say crap and bum a lot
                            • Participated in our Growth and Creative monthly metrics call to go through work and learnings and come up with 5 new creative ideas 
                            • Found yourself pixel pushing on your design, then self corrected to get that damn A/B test out into the world because you can draw the line
                            • Uploaded a bunch of stuff that inspires you on our Slack #inspiration channel
                            • Worked with our Growth team to create a personality for a new chat bot
                            • Worked with our copywriter to concept a bunch of delightful messages for a text to order test
                            • Created a new and improved process with our Workflow Manager for a better way to produce our blog content imagery
                            • Worked with the other design leads to get feedback on your work in progress to get other perspectives and peer feedback
                            • Worked with our UX design to test an Easter egg on our homepage
                            • Worked with our DP team to integrate our blog test into the main site
                            • Contributed big picture conceptual thinking to our upcoming Earth Day campaign
                            • Shared your work in progress for feedback from your design colleagues
                            • Contributed thoughts on what worked and what could be improved in the future in our monthly Creative Team Pin Up

                            Let's talk about you

                            Yes, you're a digital designer and a pro at Sketch and the Adobe suite (duh), but you don't just make things look pretty. You've probably always dreamt of applying your design skills to work that's contributing to making our world a better place whilst making people smile. 

                            You understand the nuances of digital design in the world of ecommerce and you get a kick out of seeing your work across emails, landing pages and new channels. It's ok not to know everything, but you're the type of person who jumps in and loves figuring it out. 

                            You see the forest, and the trees

                            Rather than just thinking through the individual element you're designing, you think about the entire experience it fits into. We go at a fast pace, so while we want to be proud of the work that goes out, it might not always be perfect. We prefer to get as many of our ideas into the world as possible, rather than perfecting a single idea. You must be used to iterating and creating A/B tests of your work. 

                            You love variety

                            Berets, caps, helmets - you look good in all of the hats. We're a small team and we all get our hands dirty. Some days you'll be designing, other days you'll be concepting big picture campaigns. Then, there will be days you'll be solving a process problem or figuring out how to increase our cross functional collaboration. 

                            We won't tell anyone, but you like metrics and data

                            You understand the role metrics, data and insights have in your work and you love finding the balance between creativity and brand and data and best practice. You're the type of person who will sit on our team metrics call and then come up with 10 ways to apply it to your work. 

                            You are comfortable and skilled at leading and working cross-functionally to ensure everyone is engaged, effective and enjoying themselves. Your crystal ball vision helps you stay a few steps ahead and you proactively seek to fill gaps in your knowledge to understand what might lie ahead. 

                            You're delightful and like to make people smile

                            We want someone who can learn our approach, think quickly and take the initiative to suggest new ways in which we can use design to deliver delight. You're constantly thinking about fun ways to bring delight to our customers, can think of high end campaignable ideas as well as smaller, easier to action ones. 

                            You heart feedback You welcome getting tips, tricks and feedback on your work from your peers, not just within the design team, but cross functionally too. You understand that diversity in thinking makes work better and some people make really valid points. That's not to say you have to take eeeeeeverything on board. You know how to filter and have the confidence and communication skills to explain your decision making. 

                            You give a crap
