                Collington, A Kendal Affiliate (www.collington.kendal.org) is a premier full-service not-for-profit continuing care retirement community (CCRC) located in Mitchellville Maryland.  Collington offers superior care and service to its residents in 361 independent living homes and apartments, 65 assisted living apartments, and a 44-skilled nursing bed health center.   Located on a beautiful 125-acre campus, Collington is known for its peaceful campus featuring native trees, rolling lawns, a six-acre lake, walking trails and exquisite gardens.

                 

                Collington is currently in search of candidates for the position of Human Resources Manager (HRM). The HRM oversees and coordinates the day-to-day activities in human resources. Assists in the development of policies and procedures; coordinates human resources activities, such as staffing and development, compensation, employee relations, benefits administration, and training. Oversees the analysis, maintenance, and communication of records required by law or local governing bodies, or other departments in the organization. Consults legal counsel to ensure that policies comply with federal and state laws.  Oversees the workers compensation and unemployment insurance programs. Contributes to the development of HR department goals, objectives and systems.

                 

                     Essential Functions

                 

                1. Advises management in appropriate resolution of employee relations issues.

                   

                2. Coordinates management training in interviewing, hiring, terminations, promotions, performance review, safety, and sexual harassment. Provides on-going support and resource direction for management staff engaged in these activities.

                   

                3. Oversees the recruitment efforts for all staff, including placing position advertisements. Manages the full-life cycle including the requisition, process, candidate tracking, candidate offers, internal change of status, new hire orientation and on-boarding. 

                   

                4. Represents the organization at human resources-related hearings and investigations.

                   

                  Education and Experience

                  Bachelor’s Degree in Human Resources Management with a minimum of ten (10) years of experience working as a Human Resources Generalist in a not-for-profit organization or the equivalent combination of education and experience; at least two (2) years of management experience. SHRM certification preferred.  Fluency in HRIS systems, UltiPro is desirable.  Extensive knowledge in benefit enrollment, FMLA/ADA, Workers Compensation. Unemployment Compensation, and 403(b).
