    Job Description


    Since inception, CHI St. Alexius Health Turtle Lake has been dedicated to serving the residents of Turtle Lake, ND and the surrounding rural communities. CHI St. Alexius Health includes the Turtle Lake Hospital, Turtle Lake and Washburn Family Clinics. CHI St. Alexius Health Turtle Lake includes services of a 26-bed facility, a rural health clinic, and an emergency department that is available 24 hours a day. We offer many outpatient services, including physical therapy, radiology services, laboratory services, cardiac rehabilitation, and IV treatments.

    : Reports to the Administrator as directed; installs, maintains and repairs building structures and equipment. Follow policy and procedures and the Mission and Philosophy of Community Memorial Hospital.


    • Attains completion of department goals/objectives as identified at last performance appraisal.
    • Assures development of programs, policies and procedures that respond to the changing times in healthcare: Policies and Procedures updated per policy; Innovative changes are made in department
    • Maintains positive representation of the department by demonstrating initiative in recognizing and responding to co-workers workload and assists in completing their assignments when feasible.
    • Repairs and adjustment necessary to the mechanical system are performed as required by preventative maintenance schedules.
    • Entrances, walkways and parking lots are cleaned and de-iced according to departmental policy
    • Work orders for repairs on building equipment are done the day the work order is received unless parts need to be ordered. The parts are ordered that day and the repair is done as soon as parts are available.
    • Building and equipment is kept in a presentable fashion at all times.
    • Ensures Maintenance Dept meets compliance with State Health and Fire Marshal with <2 deficiencies as well as internal safety inspections.
    • Purchases supplies using the most cost effective vendors.
    • Performs other duties as assigned.


    Minimum of three years direct maintenance experience including boiler operation HVAC control ( heating, ventilation, air conditioning), mechanical and /or electrical background.

    Supervision and management potential.

    Interpersonal Skills:
    Works well with all levels of people; neat, clean and organized; able to work under stressful situations and make good decisions; good oral and written communication skills. Accountable for own conduct and promotes and supports positive working relationships among staff, departments, families, visitors and patients. Maintain a positive attitude and demonstrate behavior consistent with the Benedictine mission statement. Maintains confidentiality.

    Physical Effort:
    This position involves very heavy work as defined by exerting in excess of 100 pounds of force occasionally, and/or in excess of 50 pounds for force frequently, and/or in excess of 20 pounds of force constantly to move objects. Requires high degree of far and near visual acuity, depth perception, and field of vision. Ability to climb, stoop, kneel, crouch, crawl, stand, walk. Must be able to independently and without special equipment or assistance of others lift and move and/or physically restrain patients and/or others of all weights and sizes in an adequate manner in response to codes and drills.
