              Job Description

              The Company:
              We are a privately held, family owned heavy civil construction company with work across multi states. We work on large scale public works projects including, roads, bridges, tunnels and other infrastructure projects. This position will be responsible for approximately 250-300 employees including union and other non union work force.

              The Position:
              Under the direction of the Controller and EVP of Operations, this position will interact at all levels of the company and respond to all HR needs across the organization. This will include the entire life cycle of an employee from recruiting, onboarding, payroll interface, benefits, employee relations, and performance management. Additionally, you will be creating policies and procedures that look to the future.

              Duties:

              Update handbook and create policies including PTO, which are in compliance with state and federal laws.
              Ensure accurate benefit enrollments and terminations across multiple companies in compliance with applicable outside contracts.
              Work with Accounting on accurately paying monthly insurance premiums
              Roll out new benefit plans during annual open enrollment period. Negotiate with vendors on cost saving options.
              Work with insurance brokers on cost effective programs and employee self service modules.
              Create new and engaging performance management programs with senior staff.
              Collect EEOC information and compile data for multiple bid needs.
              In conjunction with Senior staff, develop an overall recruitment strategy and implement it across multiple business units.
              Successfully source and hire field and office staff and prepare all on boarding paperwork including drug screening, background checks and motor vehicle reports.
              Working knowledge of payroll systems
              Create disciplinary process and documentation. Work with legal department on all employee relations issues that may result in legal action against the company.
              ACA reporting- year end for 3 companies.

              Ideal candidate will have 5+ years Human Resources experience, specifically in a construction company. Must have excellent communication skills, be an effective problem solver and work with staff in the office and in the field. Must be able to interact and gain the trust of senior management. Convey your thoughts and suggestions concisely and backed up by data. Great atmosphere, easy commute and professional office environment.
