At Blueprint Medicines, as our name indicates, we are creating a blueprint for the future of healthcare. We are a leading company in the personalized medicine revolution by focusing on delivering new medicines that are targeted to the genetic driver of disease. We do this by leveraging our one-of-a-kind drug discovery platform to discover, develop and work to bring highly-selective kinase inhibitors to patients globally. This prolific scientific platform has enabled Blueprint Medicines to build a pipeline of novel therapies that span three distinct areas of medicine; genomically defined cancers, rare diseases and cancer immunotherapy.

The Director/Senior Director of Business Development will assume a highly visible role within Blueprint to identify, evaluate and negotiate value-creating new business opportunities and strategic partnerships in support of Blueprint's corporate vision and business imperatives. This leader will also work closely with the Vice President of Corporate Development and cross-functional stakeholders to evolve our corporate and business development strategies and objectives and contribute to building of the growing BD & licensing function.

    • Lead search and evaluation efforts for specific therapeutic areas to proactively identify and solicit new strategic research partnerships or in-licensing/acquisition opportunities with biotech and pharmaceutical companies, academic institutions or non-profit research organizations
    • Lead or contribute to strategic partnering initiatives which may include platform or asset partnerships, combination therapy and companion diagnostic collaborations
    • Establish and cultivate relationships with external partners and experts to bring forward innovative ideas that can be incorporated into Blueprint's portfolio
    • Stay closely abreast of research developments in the field via published literature, trade press, conferences, patent filings, and relationships across academia and industry
    • Establish a highly-efficient and productive sourcing and diligence process tailored to Blueprint operationally and culturally
    • Lead in-house cross-functional technical evaluation and due diligence efforts through deal closure
    • Build business cases, including assessment of commercial plan, market opportunity and appropriate transaction financial structure for prospective partnering opportunities
    • Apply modeling, discounted cash flow, net present value, internal rates of return and risk analysis techniques to BD deal valuation and structuring
    • Lead structuring, negotiation and execution of deals and transactions
    • Collaborate closely with other BD team members to achieve the team's objectives
    • Prepare and present scientific and business rationale for recommendations and transaction proposals to senior management
    • Serve as an ambassador of Blueprint's BD function which requires maintaining thorough knowledge of Blueprint corporate messaging, platform, R&D programs, targets, therapeutic approach and vision

    Qualifications and Capabilities:

    • 10+ years of relevant experience in pharmaceutical/biotech business development
    • Advanced scientific degree (PhD or MD) is strongly preferred
    • Proven ability to lead multiple BD projects and diligence teams efficiently and independently

We are driven by the pursuit of new ideas, new innovations, and new ways of thinking.

We know that what each and every one of us does matters and that our success depends on our ability to work together.
