We are seeking an experienced Charge Preceptor RN to join our Perioperative team. As a Charge RN, some of your essential job functions include: Functioning as a liaison between middle management, staff, physicians, patients and families, ancillary staff and other departments; Ensuring staff members have appropriate training and qualifications for the patient assignment and matching the staff's competencies with the needs of the patient; Recognizing and solving complex issues in the unit and with patients As a Preceptor RN, some of your essential job functions include: Coaching, training, and mentoring new staff and new graduates; Creating individualized learning methods by assessing the learning needs of each student and collaborating with him/her to determine goals and learning outcomes; Creating an environment conducive to learning and determining appropriate patient care assignments for students The approximate amount of overall participation in direct patient care activities is 80% and Charge Preceptor duties are 20%. The range of roles between Charge and Preceptor may vary dependent upon patient acuity and volume issues.
Must Have Knowledge, Skills & Abilities: Demonstrated ability to incorporate leadership and communication skills with conflict resolution, time management, delegation, mentorship, education, and role modeling; Demonstrated ability to maintain composure in high stress situations, and act quickly in response to critical situations; Strong communication skills with demonstrated ability to express ideas and information clearly and concisely in a manner appropriate to the audience; Demonstrated proficiency in skills applicable to the Perioperative Unit Education: Must be a graduate of an accredited school of nursing Experience: Two (2) years recent Perioperative experience Certificate/License: Certified in cardio pulmonary resuscitation (CPR), ACLS and PALS
