          Summary: The Business Development Director is responsible for the establishment and execution of vertical market business development, marketing strategies and tactics, networking and relationship building, lead generation, initial client contact, obtaining new work, and coordinating all promotional and sales functions in support of their market(s). This position reports to the Business Unit Leader with a strong relationship to the market leaders and department leaders.  

          Essential Duties and Responsibilities:

          • Build market position by locating, developing, defining, and closing business relationships .
          • Conduct general qualification presentations with potential clients via scheduled appointments. Probe and evaluate prospective client objectives and assess personal characteristics and project goals. Develop targeted approaches and strategies responsive to the above highlighting company features, advantages and benefits toward building relationships.
          • Participate in and influence final sales presentations with executive staff, management team and estimating to close potential sales with client.
          • Collaborate in the development, preparation and execution of market plans. Monitor sales activities and adjust to market changes as necessary.
          • Identify and qualify potential opportunities for future market growth and work with team to prepare and implement strategic and tactical growth plans.
          • Lead the efforts to gather, research, and analyze statistical data for relevant market segments including such information as market size, growth potential, market share, and entry challenges and problems. Interpret this data for the development of marketing and sales strategies.
          • Report on sales activities, prospects, proposals, anticipated RFPs, presentations, and wins and losses as may be requested by executive management. Prepare ROI reports based on wins, costs, pending information and dollars spent.
          • Assist, may mentor, and support market project management in establishing and maintaining effective contact with clients, identify new work leads and manage lead follow up.
          • Work to gain sound knowledge of the background, experience and overall capabilities of the vertical market project management team.
          • Identify entertainment options, review them with management, and involve clients in a focused effort to build relations and grow the business. Involve operational team members as appropriate.
          • Maintain familiarity, competitive intelligence and regular interaction with contacts in the market and maintain an ongoing lead network. Attend targeted professional marketing affiliation and industry trade shows that provide favorable results for LCI.
          • Assist in establishment of vertical market Business Development budget and work to stay within established budget parameters.

          Education / Experience Requirements:

          Bachelor's degree in business, marketing or related field.

          Minimum of 5 years of sales or marketing experience and a motivation for sales.

          In-depth market knowledge with proven ability to grow business and exceed targets within the market space as a business development manager, sales executive or relevant role.

          Proficiency in networking, persuasion, prospecting, public speaking, research, writing, closing skills, prospecting skills, sales planning, identification of customer needs and challenges, territory management, professionalism, MS Office and CRM software (e.g., Salesforce).

          Ability to flourish with minimal guidance, be proactive, and be comfortable in both a leadership and team-player role .

          Physical Demands: Work is performed mostly in office settings. Some outdoor work may be required in the inspection of various construction sites, land use developments, or occupied facilities. Hand-eye coordination is necessary to operate computers and various pieces of office equipment.

          While performing the duties of this job, the employee is occasionally required to stand; walk; use hands to finger, handle, feel or operate objects, tools or controls; and reach with hands and arms. The employee is occasionally required to sit; climb or balance; stoop, kneel, bend, crouch or crawl; talk or hear; and smell. The employee is frequently required to drive.

          The employee must occasionally lift and/or move objects up to 25 pounds. Specific vision abilities required by this job include close vision, distance vision, color vision, peripheral vision, depth perception and the ability to adjust focus.

          Work Environment: This job operates in a controlled indoor environment where the noise level is usually quiet. This role routinely uses standard office equipment such as computers, phones, photocopiers, filing cabinets and fax machines.

          The employee is occasionally exposed to outside weather conditions. Also, on a project site the environment is occasionally loud.
