    Job Summary

    Novant Health has an immediate need for a Digital Health and Engagement Medical Director in Charlotte, NC. This role will consist of 20 hours administrative duties per week. In addition, 20 hours per week of clinical time is available.

    The Medical Director is responsible for the strategy and growth of digital health clinical services across the Novant Health system, as well as community partners and future growth opportunities. In partnership with Digital Health and Engagement leadership, this position with oversee digital health clinical projects and program implementation. The Clinical Physician Executive will partner directly with the Manager of Clinical Operations as day-to-day leadership for the virtual health team and program.

    The Medical Director is responsible for identification, hiring and onboarding of qualified providers to the program, developing and ensuring of ongoing education as relates to virtual health for those providers, monitoring of quality, patient satisfaction and financial metrics for the program, and providing direction, counseling, and potentially displinary action for providers who do not meet the standards for the program.

    The Medical Director will report to the CMIO of Novant Health Medical Group to understand current and future capabilities within Dimensions, interact where appropriate with the Dimensions and optimization teams, participate in vendor relationships (specifically Epic but others where appropriate) to help develop roadmap and future direction as well as troubleshoot any technical issues, and provide regular status reports to the CMIO as well as the SVP of Digital Health and Engagement.

    The Medical Director shall assist the providers in their ability to provide virtual care to their patients where appropriate and advocate for maximizing the use of this technology to support the mission of the medical group and their patients. The Medical Director will be responsible for the development of quality programs and balanced scorecard performance.

    The Medical Director shall keep up with trends in virtual health and technology from national and regional perspective and serve as a resource for the Digital health and Engagement SVP and CMIO NHMG as well as the medical group overall. The Medical director shall monitor regulatory and payer changes in compensation, documentation and other requirements to ensure the program is compliant and maximizing potential revenues.

    Qualifications

    • MD or DO required
    • Minimum five years' in ambulatory clinical patient care
    • Prior experience in virtual health delivery
    • Prior leadership experience working with providers required
    • Current NC, SC or Virginia medical license and specialty certification in primary care or emergency medicine required 

    Additional Requirements:

    • Ability to drive/travel to multiple locations/facilities as needed
    • Ability to work across clinical, non-clinical and technical departments
    • Practical experience in the delivery of telemedicine and virtual health services
    • Demonstrates commitment to improving care for patients by expanding digital health services to all populations
    • Exhibits strong skills in interpersonal communication
    • Demonstrates skill in clinical quality improvement and resource management
    • Demonstrates strong leadership skills and develops and maintains skill in organizing work to achieve system goals and objectives
    • Ability to monitor quality control standards, analyze and interpret complex data, research and prepare comprehensive reports, and make necessary strategy changes as a result
    • Ability to continuously reprioritize, demonstrate flexibility, and process multiple issues simultaneously
    • Proven ability to communicate business concepts through effective storytelling
