The Coatesville VAMC is a 522-bed facility with psychiatry, primary care and nursing home units that serves as the tertiary center for the eastern half of Veteran's Integrated Service Network 4 (PA, NJ, DE) for Veterans who have served our nation from World War I to the current global conflict. All the units have PA's or NPs or internists managing medical issues.
The psychiatrist will manage a small caseload on the inpatient psychiatry unit half-time and cover the urgent care unit half- time. The psychiatrist will have strong clinical skills and should be familiar with a wide range of psychiatric acute and chronic conditions, including substance abuse disorders, geriatric psychiatry, and all forms of serious mental illnesses. The psychiatrist will work in concert with other clinical staff contributing to the achievement of quality of care, efficiency, and improvement in patient processing and satisfaction.
The psychiatrist is expected to practice in accordance with professional standards, core values and a commitment to excellence. Call by pager off campus typically limited to two (2) weekdays and one (1) weekend per month. Board Certification by the ABPN(American Board of Psychiatry and Neurology) is preferred. However, board eligible status is acceptable.
The Coatesville VAMC has a teaching affiliation with Drexel University School of Medicine and the incumbent may be expected to teach third-year medical students.
Salary: 200K to 240K. You may also qualify for up to 120K in Medical Student Loan Repayment
Hours: The majority of daily working hours are Monday - Friday 8:00am to 4:30pm
