    Job Description

    Applications are being accepted by the College Place School District for a 1.0 FTE Certificated School Psychologist starting in the 2020-2021 school year. This assignment is being posted for internal and external consideration at this time. The position is open until filled. Required Qualifications: Valid Washington State ESA Certificate in School Psychology Masters degree in job related area. Ability to work cooperatively with students and their parents who are culturally, racially, and linguistically diverse. Desired Qualifications: Successful experience as a school psychologist Bilingual and biliterate in the Spanish language. Interest in and experience with extra-curricular and co-curricular coaching and/or advising assignments The Successful Candidate Shall: Measure the intellectual, social, and emotional development of children and interpret the results of psychological studies. Diagnose educational and personal disabilities and collaborate in the planning of appropriate educational and therapeutic programs. Identify and classify handicapped children and collaborate in the planning of appropriate educational and social placements and programs. Facilitate the use of Response to Intervention in identifying struggling students and support teachers, specialists, and administrators in problem solving goals, interventions, and analysis of outcomes of progress monitoring. Facilitate teachers, parents, and administrators to understand child behavior, intellectual and personality differences as they apply to individual pupil, home, school, and community. Consult with parents/guardians, teachers, administrators, and/or other professionals for the purpose of addressing issues that will enhance students' educational performance and/or social development, thus assisting in resolving students' behavioral, academic, and other problems. Participate in the development, implementation, and evaluation of all aspects and levels of the school curriculum, including the setting of priorities and the writing of behavioral plans and in continuous assessment of students receiving special education services. Maintain accurate and complete student records as required by laws, District policies, and administrative regulations. Encourage and refer students and/or parents to seek additional assistance from mental health professionals and outside agencies (i.e. CPS, DSHS, etc.) for the purpose of addressing student needs outside the scope of District services. Ability to use computers for instruction, assessment, and Response to Intervention individual student data reporting. Ability to relay humor and positive regard to students and colleagues. Ability to utilize and evaluate interpretive feedback. Possess a positive attitude about change and an eagerness to implement changes that will enhance student learning. Contributes to team efforts by performing other related tasks as assigned by the building Administrator. Skills, Knowledge, and Abilities: SKILLS are required to perform multiple, technical tasks with a need to periodically upgrade skills in order to meet changing job conditions. Specific skills required to satisfactorily perform the functions of the job include: operating standard office equipment including software; counseling skills appropriate to students' age and educational levels; and preparing and maintaining accurate records. KNOWLEDGE is required to perform basic math, including calculations using fractions, percents, and/or ratios; read technical information, compose a variety of documents, and/or facilitate group discussions; and analyze situations to define issues and draw conclusions. Specific knowledge required to satisfactorily perform the functions of the job includes: codes, regulations & laws related to the job functions; stages of child development; and psychological techniques. ABILITY is required to schedule a significant number of activities, meetings, and/or events; collate data; and use basic, job-related equipment. Flexibility is required to independently work with others in a wide variety of circumstances; work with data utilizing specific, defined processes; and operate equipment using defined methods. Ability is also required to work with a significant diversity of individuals and/or groups; work with a variety of data; and utilize specific, job-related equipment. In working with others, problem solving is required to identify issues and create action plans. Problem solving with data requires following prescribed guidelines; and problem solving with equipment is limited. Specific abilities required to satisfactorily perform the functions of the job include: communicating with persons of varied backgrounds; maintaining confidentiality; working with frequent interruptions; and building trust.
