            Job Description

            President and Chief Executive Officer, Roundup Fellowship

            Roundup Fellowship is a non-profit faith based organization serving children and adults with developmental disabilities and associated behavior problems since 1973. Our goal is to promote dignity in all relationships while helping people with disabilities become as productive and independent as possible. Roundup Fellowship is dedicated to providing a genuine community alternative to people with conditions such as intellectual / developmental disability, cerebral palsy, epilepsy, and autism, and who may have associated physical aggressive or self-abusive behaviors.

            Our array of services includes: homes for children and adults, an on-ground school and day treatment program, supported-living apartments, community participation program, and in-home support for families.

            Position Summary

            The President and Chief Executive Officer is responsible for the leadership and management of Roundup Fellowship. This position provides direction for the achievement of the organization's mission and strategies, and oversees programs and services. The President and Chief Executive Officer is focused on building and leveraging optimal community relationships to grow resources and financial support for the organization. This position reports directly to and works collaboratively with the Board of Directors. The President and Chief Executive Officer serves as the face of the organization and as a liaison with the clients and families, the Division of Human Services, the School Districts, donors and others. This position oversees and collaborates with members of the Senior Leadership Team.


            Strategic Planning

            • Initiates, develops, directs and regularly assesses the implementation of long and short-range strategic objectives, operating business plans, policies, budgets, and programs for optimum quality and effectiveness. Makes sure strategic plans are aligned with the culture, values and mission of the organization.
            • Under the direction of the Board and in partnership with the finance team, ensures financial strength and operating efficiency with appropriate growth.
            • Ensures an effective management structure is in place to carry out the stated strategic plans. Provides leadership in the succession planning process, including selection and development of key leadership to ensure continuing quality management availability and orderly succession.

            Community Relations & Advocacy

            • Serves as the advocate/spokesperson for Roundup Fellowship, both internally and externally, regarding philosophy, values, mission and operations.
            • Establishes and maintains professional relationships with leaders of organizations in the non-profit sector and agencies that serve individuals with developmental disabilities.
            • Responsible for monitoring trends within governmental programs and within care services and proactively identifying and responding to issues and opportunities that may affect the Organization.
            • Fosters, develops and maintains positive and effective relationships with board members, constituents, donors, partners, consultants, vendors, bankers, state and national association leadership, local and national developmental disability community leaders and other relevant stakeholders.
            • Encourages communication with and develops positive and effective working relationships with public and government officials and groups.

            People Management and Development

            • Fosters a positive and supportive work environment that attracts, retains and motivates talent throughout the organization. Effectively manages the human resources of the organization to conform with mission, culture and business structure.
            • Develops and maintains an organizational culture that ensures high standards of quality management and integrity of operations.
            • Hires, coaches, leads and counsels direct reports regarding short and long-term performance expectations. Supports job growth and career development.
            • Monitors and supports team member engagement. Encourages the development of succession planning and low staff turnover. Oversees best practices in human resource structure and design to ensure staffing levels are optimal for client satisfaction and organizational growth.

            Operations Management

            • Provides vision, direction, management and leadership for Roundup Fellowship operations in order to achieve the organization's philosophy, mission and strategy while effectively developing the organization and ensuring financial strength and operating efficiency.
            • Executes Board-directed actions ensuring successful completion of annual objectives and goals as well as long-term strategic plans.
            • Assures development of programs and services for growth and expansion consistent with the mission, policies and strategic plans.
            • Establishes and maintains sound operating policies and procedures to include oversight of human capital.
            • Assesses and oversees best practice marketing strategies to include social media, digital design and website construction.
            • Oversees the technology, security and informational needs of the organization.

            Fund Raising and Volunteer Oversight

            • As the public face of Roundup Fellowship, informs others about our mission and participates in soliciting donations as appropriate.
            • Responsible for the development implementation and oversight of a comprehensive fund development strategy and department to include corporate and foundation sources, government grants, annual and major donor cultivation. etc.
            • Provides oversight to the organization's volunteer program.

            Professional Qualifications

            • Bachelor's (or higher) degree in Nonprofit Management, Human Services, Social Services, Health Services, or a related field.
            • Must embrace the mission of Roundup Fellowship and those with developmental disabilities. Experience in the developmental disabilities field is a definite plus.
            • A seasoned nonprofit executive, with at least 5 years of progressively responsible management experience with prior operations and program development experience.
            • Experience working with a nonprofit Board of Directors and as a community advocate.
            • Change agent - effective leadership with the ability to "bring others along." Can motivate and influence individuals and groups.
            • Demonstrated ability to think strategically and to make effective decisions in difficult and complex situations; open to receiving and integrating feedback.
            • Budgeting and financial management experience.
            • Proven skilled people manager and team builder.
            • Strong organizational development skills/experience (ability to evaluate and prioritize organizational needs, assess staffing levels & organizational structure, job design, etc.).
            • Demonstrated leader of highest personal and professional integrity, who is sensitive and committed to enriching the organization's mission, values and culture.
            • Comfortable working in an organization with religious traditions. Proven ability to develop and maintain trusting relationships.
            • Excellent communicator (highly articulate, excellent listener, strong writer and presenter) with exceptional interpersonal skills (ability to work well with wide range of groups and individuals).
            • Ability to establish collaborative partnerships with affiliated organizations.
            • Active fundraising experience, an understanding of nonprofit fundraising strategies and donor relations unique to nonprofit sector.
            • Ability to successfully manage conflict and adversity.
